Entrance of Bride and Groom at Dinner Reception and reception program

I have been looking at different threads about how the dinner reception at the resort can be done.  I am having a little trouble visualizing the entrance of the bride and groom at the reception.  Our wedding is at 3pm but we are planning for a 5:30pm reception on the beach for sunset.  Should we tell the guests to gather at 5:30 and then enter at 6?  Or do we just come in like everyone else.  We are using a laptop/ipod for the reception at the resort.  I will ask a friend to work it.  Also any suggestions on the run of the reception would be appreciated.
