Hi, I'm getting married here next year and I've been to this resort but it is so big, I never saw the whole thing! I was wondering if there was a bar close to the sunset gazebo where I can have all my guests meet for a drink before the wedding at 4:00pm. Possibly the Platinum Sunset building? The Platinum Riviera building had people sitting around in it and on the website it lists a bar in both the Riviera and Sunset platinum. As well as the lobby ones but I'm looking for near the beach. Has anyone stayed here and can confirm a bar for me?

We stayed in the Yucatan building so I don't know whats at the other platinum buildings.

Hi @@dockgirl

Not sure if anyone ever responded to your question.  There is a bar at the chillout section right beside the Sunset that I wonder if you guests can use to meet up.  I think all platinum guests have access to them.  Also there is the concierge area right before entering the chillout area that has a bar and guests can have a seat and enjoy the A.C.  I visited twice last year and found these spots really nice as they have nice washrooms as well.

Cheers.

Thanks veryvalero, I'm kinda in limbo right now because my wedding group was moved over to the new resort and there will be more wedding options at that resort. As of Sept the Yucatan Platinum section will no longer be adult only. The new resort is all adult only and if you want your wedding there, all your guest must be staying there. The rest of the resort won't have access to it but all the guests there have access to the Riviera & Sunset areas.

Hey @@dockgirl

Yes, I heard about the hotel and I am super excited.  We will have some of our group staying at the new hotel adults only and our guests with families (kids) will be staying at the Sunset.

The wedding will take place at the Sunset since not everyone will be able to cross over to the Yucatan Platinum.  I happy with this option especially since the hotel has not released their wedding packages for the new hotel.  We spoke with Guillermo 1 week ago and he said they have not released any info about the weddings at YP.

I'm just happy we get to experience the new hotel and also it will have been open almost a year by the time we go.

how come you are in limbo?  Were you hoping to do the wedding at the Yucatan Platinum section?

Yes, I would like to see what the new resort has to offer for weddings. I'm in the process of trying to get one family member moved over there right now. He was the only one who booked outside of the adult only section. I wish I had know at the time, I would have made sure he got into the same section. I don't want him to be excluded if everyone wants to hang out at the new resort. The new one is a lot more expensive so it will probably cost him to change

If you get any wedding info for the new hotel let me know.  I am going to visit the hotel in October so if you have any questions about the hotel I can definitely pass along any info to you.

We were worried about the same thing.  We didn't want to say to our guests 'no kids' but at the same we wanted to offer our guests with the option of trying out the new hotel.

We are going to try to do some group activities to get the group together from time to time.  We will probably do a chillout beach day as a group and maybe plan some buffet dinners together.    The part that stresses me out is probably all the back and forth to try to see everyone in the different hotels.  Oh well...I will be burning calories!

Ok, I'll let you know if I get any info. That's great that you're visiting the hotel in October. I look forward to what you have to say about it. I'm curious to know if the platinum swim outs are close to the beach and if the pool gets sun all day. At the old Yucatan it was in the shade for most of the day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
