I did see a few weddings going on at the resort while we were there and they were beautiful, so you won't be disappointed. In regards to the spa, Rosa did my hair and she did a great job. I originally didn't like how much hairspray she put in my hair because I thought it was too stiff, so I tried brushing some of it out. But when we got to the Jellyfish it was so windy that my hair was always in my face, so trust that the spa ladies know what they're doing lol.

The resort is really awesome for groups. Because it's a smaller size, we were constantly running into people from our group. It was great! You'll have a blast for sure. We had Katya Nova as our photographer for the wedding day. She was absolutely lovely and all of our guests mentioned how sweet her and Rob were. I would highly recommend her.

Hey Cinnagirl,

I'm getting married at Jellyfish next year and I'm going crazy trying to decide which resort I should choose. I've stayed at the Riu palace punta cana which is pretty, but sorta boring. I've been looking into Now Larimar, Majestic resorts, and Dreams Palm Beach as options. The Majestic resorts are beautiful, but I've read several reviews about bad food, my fiance thinks Now is cheesy, so I'm looking into Dreams. Why did you choose Dreams? Do the rooms have outdoor jacuzzis? How long was the car ride from the resort to Jellyfish? Any other tips i should know?

Thank you so much!

Hi Ladies

The wedding was everything I wanted. The resort is beautiful we had 30ppl. Everyone arrived on Thursday. I planned a happy hour at lobby bar then had dinner at Hibachi restaurant. They don't do reservations its based on first come first serve. I had a friend of mine who is works catering in U.S. Coordinate dinner so we all were able to be seated at hibachi table which was great. After that all younger guests went back to bar. I took advantage of all inclusive that night. Friday my hubby & I planned group excursion with Caribbean Festival for day cruise which was a blast everyone had a great time.

Friday night was rehearsal dinner which my WC made reservations for me at the Italian restaurant Portifino for 18ppl. We had to pay for bottle service which was fine because we drink a lot of wine. I had trial run of hair on Friday with Bella who did an excellent job with trial and day of wedding. She also did my makeup but I brought my own since I figured they would not have MAC makeup. I didn't have time for makeup trial but day of wedding she did fine even put on my lashes.

Rooms
We upgraded to preferred rooms. Food was good but glad we upgraded to preferred package because food in preferred area was better than world cafe for lunch but that's a personal opinion. Preferred area also had free wifi and use of computers during office hours. You get a 15min free massage for choosing preferred which i used in conjunction with resort coupons you get when you book air & hotel. Just FYI you get $200 worth of resort coupons but can only use part of it of Spa. You cannot combine coupons for a completely free massage. You also cannot use $40 coupon for 25min massage.  Rooms in regular part of hotel were fine as well none of my guests complained about room. My room the AC wasn't blowing air cold enough we complained within 1/2 HR someone was there to fix it. It is very humid there so there is a dampness to rooms but if you turn AC up it helps

Wedding
My WC was Vanessa. We met on first day to review pre wedding checklist. At first through email she mentioned some things were not possible but once I got there all my requests were met. I had several people who had shellfish allergies and day of wedding she was able to get alternate dinners for them. We had wedding ceremony rehearsal on Friday to go over where everyone would be and how things would go. We brought our own music for ceremony and it was played as asked. I had confetti for and asked for it to be placed in a certain way and she did it. My flowers were white and sprayed a light green to match my colors which was a recommendation by WC. I brought my own chair bows and overlays because I they didn't have my exact color and it was cheaper. They did charge me a fee which was fine. I wanted to have what I envisioned for my wedding. All In all Vanessa did an excellent job. Pastor York preformed ceremony and did an excellent job. Unfortunately he will be retiring in July so I was really lucky to have him. If you want a meaningful ceremony chose a Pastor over WC or hotel staff member to perform ceremony.

Photos/Video
I used HDC (charly and carlos who were great) for photos which are beautiful as soon as figure out how to upload I will post them. I picked ultimate package with included 50pics and 30min of ceremony with Tropical Studios. They did a good job on photos but HDCs seem to have better quality. If I had to do it again I would've used HDC video for reception since Tropical Studio was already filming ceremony instead of both. Tropical studios had at least 3 cameramen so if you picked ultimate package think about using other videographer for your reception. I picked HDC because you get more for your money. Arnuad from HDC always responded to email immediately. You get your pictures/video within 2-3days after wedding.

Reception
We used DJ Mannia who was GREAT!!!!! My hubby left our music but thank goodness he downloaded it to his phone.  So, Carlos plugged his equipment into phone. We didn't have music picked out for father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, bouquet & guarder toss but Carlos picked great songs for all. White balloons and bubbles were a big hit so glad we picked them. Carlos really did an excellent job with music while we ate dinner. If you pick them you will not be sorry.

Problems

Make sure all your guests stay at hotel. I had six guests stay at another resort and every-time they came onto property there was a problem at gate. Some days 1/2 hr wait, day of wedding they completely missed ceremony although a list was provided at gate with there names. Officers at gate don't speak english which is a huge problem.

I am amazed at how much trouble it is for guests who don't stay at the resort. That is very annoying! Some of my guests are considering staying at a different location and hopefully I can change their mind. I would have been so pissed if my guests missed the wedding. UGH I feel for you!

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
