    Hi there,

I'm new to this site and an a little overwhlemed with where to start looking! I recently got engaged and my fiance and I are interested in having a destination wedding. Most of our family and friends live in Western Canada so we'd like the flight access to be fairly direct. We'd probably expect about 50 people to attend. We're an adventurous couple who tend to avoid large resorts and other tourists. We're also pretty frugal - prefering to keep things practical rather than extravagant. We're thinking a Feb 2013 wedding.

Are there any Canadian ladies here that have experience planning a small unique destination wedding? Any advice would be great!

Congratulations and welcome to the forums! I would suggest the Mayan Riviera area, not only because I live here... but for the most economical way to have a destination wedding.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the resorts in the area! Best of luck with everything.

Congratulations and welcome the forum!!  I have to agree with Lincoln, the Mayan Riviera is a beautiful choice.  If your not interested in a large resort there are lots of other options!!

I would say write a list of what you are looking for and then find a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings and can help you narrow down your choices to a more managable lists.  Happy wedding planning!
