We haven't decided whether we will be having one big long table or round ones....but we plan on sitting with others. I am not a fan of the two of us sitting off on our own, especially during the meal.

I just asked about tables and she said we can have rounds of 8-10 or imperial. Is imperial like a king's table? (One long table)

I am going to do whatever seating arrangement works with the seating chart. I prefer us to have a sweetheart table because I like the pictures for the toast... but I'm not set one way or another. We have just enough people to fill 7 tables of 10, but then you end up with one table of randoms who don't really go together, and leaving people out of the family table or whatever... so we will probably end up with tables of 7-10 depending on the group. The one long table might be easier, if that is what an imperial table is.

Aww, that's exciting!  We're trying to set up our legal wedding the day before we leave to Mexico.  Hopefully we can get that date at the court (that date - 11/5 - is also the date he popped the question).  I think you should include your son.  My fiance has a daughter whom I love and adore now!  And I would definitely want her there (obviously so would my fiance).  Maybe you can sit him down and tell him how important it is to keep this secret......

I would hate for you to regret not having him there.  Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I mentioned that for my centerpieces I plan to recycle my bridesmaid bouquets as centerpiece bouquets. I wanted to let you know that I requested pricing to rent a vase only for the centerpieces so that the girls can just drop the flowers in. I sent my WC three centerpieces from the catalouge of which I liked the vases. They were all clear - one tall round, one spherical and one cube. I was quoted $12-15 each to rent only these vases. That seems pretty fair to me considering it would save me the hassel of transporting or purchasing in Mexico. Just wanted to let yall know in case that helps anyone!

I am going to have one long table and then a sweetheart table for the both of us. Having been a bridesmaid many times, I always hated seating separately from my partner and leaving them to sit alone, sometimes with people they barely know. So to avoid that, I went for this option. That way, I don't have to worry about seating charts or anything like that. People can just pick a spot where they want to sit. I have a table with our favours and the placecards on it. When people arrive at the reception, they just get their favour with place card and place it where they want to sit. I like to be fuss free so this is perfect for me. I also didn't want separate round or square tables with groups of people sitting because I really want everyone to socialize and kind of get to know one another. I prefer the sweetheart table because it really is all about us right? And we would still be able to see everyone as the night goes in front of us at the long table. I feel like it's more intimate with the group and for us as well.

Congrats Emily!! I don't know how old your son is, but could you kind of fib about what is really going on? Maybe tell him it's just paperwork so you can get married out of country but you need a special witness? Might work if he's pretty young.

We are going next week on whatever day future hubs can get out of work. Are you wearing anything special? We are trying to not really view this as anything but paperwork so that Mexico doesn't feel less special, so I'm debating whether dressing up and wearing white would take away from that... We aren't publicizing it but it's not a secret. We invited our parents but they said that's not the 'real' wedding to them so they want to pretend Mexico/church wedding is the actual marriage.

My son is 10 so I don't think I can pretend it's something else...lol. We are still debating. I feel like as soon as I tell him not to say anything, it'll be the first thing he does! We are doing a sweetheart table for the same reason you said Mizpriya! We have about 32 guests (including 3 kids) so we will have 4 tables.

I have a question? I was not planning on doing table #'s or place cards. I have not made seating charts. I just assumed with 30 guest they can sit where ever they want. We are not having brial parties grooms & bridesmaid. Only us and our daughter. So I thought no need tell people where to sit. But after reading on here I see y'all have. So do I have another project? Lol the hotel has not asked me for this only guest list.

well do your guests have an option for meals? That's why we did it because the resort wanted us to distinguish between those who are eating seafood, beef or are vegetarian. They asked for that along with the guest list.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
