2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

Thank you everyone for participating in these forum. The discussion threads helped us with our decision. After five months of going back and forth, we finally put our deposit down for Gran Caribe.  Our wedding is Oct. 26, 2013.  It feels so real.

We booked The Royal/Gran Caribe without doing a site visit first! I even surprised myself doing that and everyone thought we were crazy but we eventually went down and it was well worth the risk! We loved the resort and we are also getting married in the chapel, one of the big selling points for us too!

I don't love working with the off-site WC now. I'm working with Elsa and she has gotten more and more delayed in responding to things and when she does never really answers our questions. It's frustrating! When we went down we met with Diana Rodriguez who is an onsite WC at the resort. We thought we would be able to work with her directly, but she said at this point we still have to price everything and confirm with Elsa. Very annoying!

I can wait to hear about the wedding in January! So close!!

I have a quick question that I wanted to confirm. The vendor fee of $350...it's not per person right? It's per vendor correct?

For instance, my videographer is bringing 2 assistants so I would pay $350 for all three of them rather than $350 each of them right?

I just emailed Diana asking if my two wedding guests that are also taking my pictures will be charged a vendor fee, I'll let you know how she responds!  It's per company though.  So if you had an outside photographer that also included videography, it would be one outside vendor fee.  If it was one outside photography company and a separate, outside videographer company, it would be two outside vendor fees totalling $700.

I had not noticed they changed the menu, but I did notice they changed the packages. We reserved the "Classic Catholic Wedding" which I can no longer find on the website (maybe I'm just missing it...?). They have Classic Wedding and Royal Catholic which includes things I don't want to pay for, i.e. a photogrpaher when I am bringing an outside one. I emailed this morning to confirm that we still get the old package/price.

For other girls in the chapel:

What is everyone doing for their ceremony music? I'm actually leaning towards the mariachis. My Mom says she's been to a Mariachi Mass before and it's actually really cool and traditional....

Also, have you been in contact with the priest? I just emailed him this morning and I'm not sure what to expect back from him. I have questions about the flow of hte ceremony and the rehearsal and generally would just like to talk a few times before the wedding. Has he been helpful for yall?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
