2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

I was told before that if one of us is catholic, we can have a ceremony in the chapel. I just saw the paper forwarded to me that 2 baptism certificates are needed to have a catholic ceremony. I'm freaking out now since my FI is not a catholic. Just emailed my WC on this. Sigh.

I have actually debated asking if we are about to switch coordinators because Claudy has been so bad lately. Unless I email her multiple times she typically takes about a week to respond and will maybe answer half of my questions. It's frustrating. And in the mean time I had my 2 cousins as my maids of honor (one maid of honor and one matron of honor). My maid of honor Caity has been really helpful and really supportive. My matron of honor Nicky has really been negative and hasn't been there as much as she should (even called the salon to order her dress instead of coming with me to try it on, on a day that she was right around the salon anyways). She was also not going to come to, or help plan my bachelorette because she "couldn't afford it" (even though that doesn't explain why she refused to help plan). Then she went out and decide to book one of the most expensive suites at the resorts for herself. Don't get me wrong I totally think people should get whatever room they want but she's complained about money for everything then gets an expensive room. Everything that we had to do by a certain date she waited until the last min after I had to remind her multiple times and would give me excuses that just added more stress for me. Well her and my maid of honor got into a fight when she called Nicky out on not doing anything then complaining that she wasn't included. So my cousin Nicky quit. She's decided that she will come as a guest only, and I'm really not sure how to feel. I just think that she tries to make everything about her and isn't happy when it isn't, and that maybe is is for the best, but it still kind of stings. Anyways sorry it was so long I just needed to vent to people who might understand what I'm going through!

Happybride2be: I also live in Houston!

Emily: I also have Claudy and she does the same thing. At times she will respond within a few hours, but then it will take a week and only half my questions are answered. It's very frustrating! I haven't tried phone calls yet though, maybe she is more responsive that way...

When do we get an onsite coordinator and how do we know who that is?

I recommend you girls request a different coordinator asap.  As things get down to the wire and you start to stress more, Claudy does not change and you will be 100 times more frustrated.  I tried calling her as well (on multiple occasions) and it was extremely disappointing to confirm something with her over the phone, only to get an email 3 days later with different information.  Once you make your final payment and your WC processes all the paperwork, you receive the information for your on site cooridinator.  In my case, this was 3 weeks prior to my wedding date, which is very nerve racking.   That being said, my on site WC, Diana, has been amazing so far.

If you are not both Catholic, you cannot get married in the Chapel.  Trust me on this- my fiance and I are both Catholic, but because his anullment will not be done in time they will not allow us to marry in the Chapel and I had to change my wedding ceremony location and package last minute.  The Catholic wedding you would have there has the same rules/processes/requirements that a Catholic wedding here would have.

Anything in color (table runners, bows, etc.) cost extra unless you bring it yourself.  All of the wedding packages include standard white linens and anything in color is an "extra".

Tx bride- about the linen at the resort....they use the same set up for all weddings. I tried to get a white satin linen set up and they could not do it for me. Words can't ever explain how disappointed I am with how things are going with the gran caribe real. It is so hard to talk to my WC and when I do none of my questions aee amswered and I get no where. It is impossible for them to meet my needs in regards to adding different linen flowers and meals. If it is not listed in their choices good luck on getting what you want. I thought of hiring an outside vendor but time is running out and the cost is too high. Sorry just needed to vent! It doesn't feel like MY day anymore. Wish I wemt with a different resort for this kind of money.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
