Does anyone have information on organizing a CATAMARAN tour near Playa Del Carmen?

Recommended Posts

We want to surprise our guests with a 2-3 hr Catamaran tour for a twist on our  "wedding favours". We were thinking we would organize it, then include cute little envelopes at the reception place settings saying "Thank you for sharing our special day....(yadda yadda)...as a gift to you....we have arranged a Catamaran tour..."haha or something along those lines!

ANY GUIDANCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED :)

Hiii,

I remembered seeing a recommendation for a company and did a quick search:

QUOTE: "I would highly recommend Catamaya for your sailing trip! :::::::::: CATAMAYA :::::::::: We went in January and it was so awesome! The boat is beautiful and the crew couldn't have been more fun. Everyone who wanted to went snorkeling (all gear provided of course) and others just swam off the back of the boat. It was a sunset cruise so they went under power to the snorkeling place, then sailed back towards the sunset. It was gorgeous! I will post some pics later as I am off to an appt now. Oh, and they sail out of Puerto Aventuras, just south of Playa.

Everyone was super excited! We got the basic package ($2200 + Transportation-$10 per person). We snorkeled, fished-and caught fish, made Civiche out of the fish we caught, they played music, and we had an open bar."

QUOTE: "Hi Allison and other brides,

We are doing an excursion on a catamaran for our rehersal dinner. I contacted catamaya :::::::::: CATAMAYA ::::::::::. I got the info through another bride on this forum who used them. Our photographer Samuel Luna offers an extra shoot so we chose to have him do the rehersal dinner and thought a catamaran would be really cool. They offer the following,

Morning Charter with Grilled Burgers
From 10am to 2pm

The lunch includes:
Green salad with Italian and French dressing, Guacamole, Mexican salsa, tortilla chips and an hamburger that our chef grills on our stainless steel grill on the back of the catamaran.

Cost: USD $40 Per Person

Morning Charter with Lobster or Steak
From 10am to 2pm
The lunch includes:

Green salad with Italian and French dressing, pasta salad, mexican salsa, Guacamole, Tortilla chips and Choice of one Rib Eye Steak or one Lobster tail that our chef grills (with garlic and butter).

Cost: USD $50 Per Person

You also may consider a Sunset Charter, as follows the prices and options:

SUNSET Charter with Snacks

From 3:30pm to 7:30pm
The quoted 'standard' snacks are: Guacamole, Mexican salsa, Tortilla chips and assorted nuts.

Cost: USD $34 per person

SUNSET Charter with Hamburgers

All the same sack as above
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $38 per person

SUNSET Charter with Lobster or Steak

All the same menu as the morning charter
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $45 per person

All the options above include:

- Beer ( Corona )

- national rum, vodka, tequila

- Sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite

- Juices: Orange, Pineapple

- Purified water

· All the snorkel gear is provided.

· The tips and transportation are not included. If you need us to provide the round trip transportation, please consider USD 10.00 per person.

· A 30% deposit is required order to book the date, and the balance will have to be paid one week before the event.

· At the following link you could find more images of Catamaya:

The only thing is as you see above it is extra for the transportation. They leave out of puerto morales. I am waiting for our TA to see if maybe there is the same thing local in Playa so we do not have to do the transportation."

There are 2 big companies in the area that both offer private catamaran tours with open bar, snorkeling, and all-around fun: CataMaya (www.catamaya.com.mx) and Fat Cat (www.fatcatsail.com).  From what I've heard both do a great job.  They generally run their group trips in the morning so the afternoon private tours are more economical and you get the advantage of watching the sunset from the catamaran.  They both offer different food packages going as far as a steak and lobster meal package.

Hope that helps.  Happy Planning!

  • 2 years later...

I love this idea. And this would be way more fun than a rehearsal dinner. I'm hoping there's one close to Now Sapphire so the car ride won't be to long.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
