November 2012 Brides?

I bought the $3 cups at Wal-mart- they have different colors during the different seasons.  I bought the orange, red, green and blue ones.  They look very similair to the Dollar Tree ones but they have a rubber gripper thing around the middle of them and the cups are clear with colored straws and grippers.  I bought vinyl decals off a seller on Etsy to have the first letter of everyone's name so everyone can tell their cups apart!

Allie- Are you putting a note in the cups so people know to use the cups on the trip?

I think we are going to have a pre-Mexico gathering at our house before we leave to hand out all the bags before we leave for Mexico that leave around us, so we only have to bring about 4 bags with us for the out of town people.

I am planning on putting the cups, Tums, hand sanitizer, welcome letter and timeline in mine.  I might buy cheap sunglasses and small things of sunscreen if we can find it also.

I will check out Wal-mart if we end up having to buy more of the cups. thanks for that tip!!

I will probably put a tag or something on the cups with the "to have and to hold and to keep your drink cold" on it. I'm the queen of tags lol

We will have to haul the bags to Mexico, as the vast majority of our guests are not local. that's another reason we were trying to keep it fairly simple. we are planning to hand them out at our welcome dinner. Right now I know we have 2 people for sure, and up to 6 who are staying at other properties. I'm not sure if they will come to our resort for the welcome dinner, and honestly not sure if i'm going to bother with bags for them. if we don't give them to them until the day of the wedding, its kind of a moot point.

My mom and best friend are coming out in September, so I will probably send some things back with them to bring to Mexico for us.

I had these bookmarked 24 pairs of sunglasses for $50, as I wanted to do them too. I loved the "take these so you aren't blinded by our love" line - cracked me up. I know..I'm completely corny!!

haha, that is corny but I like it! :) I don't know if I'll just put a slip of paper in the cup or just tell everyone when I give them their bags beforehand....decisions decisions, lol.

Thanks- Ill check out those sunglasses- they have some cheap ones on this website too- windycitynovelties.com I think it's like $9 for a dozen.

I would tell them no...or tell them they can take advantage of your group rates, but you don't have the budget for them to attend the reception and festivities. Or...tell them they can attend, but they will need to pay - that should piss them off enough that they don't want to go anymore.

It's rude to invite yourself to a wedding, even a destination one!

She was on the guest list but had said No. Now everyone has booked and planning is done and they've changed their mind. I ended up caving and saying they can come. My MoH gave me some good advice. She said in 10 years, will I look back and be glad she was there or will I look back and still be freaked about the extra couple hundred bucks.... good perspective. So even though our budget (which was based on the 35 people we expected, not the 58 we actually have attending) is WAY over..... it means a lot that friends still want to come. Can't believe how many people are coming.

My BDW email alerts aren't working! Glad I checked back in myself.

Welcome, McLecker! Whenever we get stressed out about how many people are coming (we're at 131 adults + kids!), we try to remind ourselves how lucky we are to have so many people willing to make such a big trip for us. Not that Los Cabos or Tulum are rough places to go ;-). Of course, our RSVP deadline isn't until late September, so we'll see how I feel if/when people change their minds after that date!

Our OOT bags: a welcome packet (itinerary for the few days we're together, local to do/to eat, maps, etc.), an emergency kit (bandaids, Advil, Pepto tablets, Alka Seltzer tablets), and some toiletries (wet wipes, insect repellant wipes, sunscreen wipes, Kleenex). We are thinking of adding bottled water and some snacks since the ride to Tulum from the airport is 90 minutes. I've been scouring dollar stores for the bags and have gotten pretty much everything else on Amazon or Minimus.biz, a website recommended a lot on this forum. Also check out La Fresh's sales for some nice eco-friendly products. Oh, and we're also getting a bunch of hats (bucket hats, visors, straw hats, cowboy hats, etc.) from dollar stores. Total for each bag will probably come to about $8. It's a lot when you add it up, but we thought it was important to do this since people are coming from so far away and spending so much money themselves to come!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
