Need your help! Turks & Caicos Venue Decision: Seven Stars vs. Gansevoort

Congrats on your wedding! I got married at the Seven Stars last April and used bougainvillea for my bouquet, corsages, boutonnieres and my centerpieces. I also got them through my package, so it was Niki/the hotel that made arrangements with the florist. I had no problems with anything drooping or wilting, especially the bouquet. The hotel kept the bouquet in the fridge in my room right up until I needed it. And then the whole ceremony and pictures only takes about an hour anyway and then you're basically done with your bouquet. But I also didn't notice any issues with my centerpieces either. If I had any issue, the groom's boutonniere got a little mushed, but I think was mostly from hugs after the ceremony.

I was more concerned that the flowers wouldn't look all that special in arrangements but I couldn't fathom paying to ship flowers in (which is the only other option). Turns out, I absolutely loved my arrangements - bright pop of color, island-y, not too 'done' or formal, but very pretty for my beach wedding. Hope my two cents helps!

Thanks for the reassurance, Krys!

While looking at various pictures on Tropical Imaging's website, I have seen many beautiful bouquets and arrangements! I saw Candice and David's pictures too. Even though the bouganvillea look perfectly fine, I got a little stressed when I read several negative things about them on other sites.

I hope you don't mind! I have two other questions for you...

1. Are all of the bouganvillea in Turks and Caicos various shades of fuschia? Some of the pictures look a little purple-ish fuschia and others look like a vivid hot pink. I'm trying to decide upon a color theme.

2. I'm getting married in early December 2012. How is the humidity during the month of December? I've already researched it, but I'd love a local's opinion!

Glad to help!

The most common color of Bougainvillea is bright fuschia with the deeper Purplish version probably the next most seen, (but not as common).  We also see a peachy/coral one but those bushes aren't as lush and I have never seen it in a bouquet.   The one in the photo is the most used, and most abundant.

December is a great time for outside temps.  Definitely not as humid, and a nice temperature during the day (low to mid 80's).   My mom doesn't do well in hot and humid temperatures (and we don't have a/c at our house) and she comes for 3 weeks in December and loves the weather.

Obviously we could get warm or cold fronts during that time and it may be hotter or cooler than normal, but December is when I put away tank tops and get the short sleeve shirts out as I am not sweating!!!  (and maybe a lightweight 3/4 length sleeve in the evening for us locals, the tourists are still in full summer gear LOL)

Hope that helps.

I also went with Gansevoort! I had some issues with Seven Stars.  Dorell at Gansevoort provided me with the most outstanding service!  I felt way more comfortable with her and their resort! After a visit, I was convinced that this was the place for me! Can't wait!

Wow TWO Gansevoort brides? I've been having the hardest time finding anyone... when are your weddings? Mine is booked for August 10th. I haven't done a site visit, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's everything I hope it will be.

Also just booked Sheque Perfection for hair (want to do my own makeup) and looking to book Brilliant for my photography.

What size are your weddings? DETAILSS =)

Quick question, I just looked at the Gansevoort for pricing on rooms. It said the most inexpensive room was $700/night. Is that pretty accurate? I was looking for April 2013. It seems crazy that my guests would have to pay $3500 just for 5 nights of vacation. Are you all paying that or do they offer discounts for guests? I haven't looked too much into the cost yet, so I'd be interested in any personal input! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
