Hi,

I just got the starfish garland from Michaels..going to take the string on the starfish but they stink just like yours! Did the smell go completely away? I am thinking about airing them out and even spraying them with air freshener or light perfume? lol...I am so sensitive to smells and really don't want them to stink up my suitcase like I think Tori said. Thanks!

Is it true that if you take a lot of items to Jamaica you will be taxed through customs? How did you handle this issue?

I plan to take quite a few things (candles, linen, party favors OOT bags etc)...I am glad that I am aware that there is a possibility of being taxed

so I can prepare early.

Does anyone know if this is indeed the case?? if so i need to stop shopping for my OOT bags.. like YESTERDAY lol

Hi Jennifer,

I couldn't find your original post about the pashminas you got in Calgary but I went there yesterday and ended up buying 9! I was trying to remember the deal he gave you?

I bartered with him a bit and got 9 for 85$ plus tax. I got the ones with the paisley design, I got four ivory ones, three red ones to go with the bm dresses, one for my FMIL and a turquoise one for me to go with my Fiance's kilt...I got an ivory and black one. They were 10$ each so I got one for free I think..lol...He tried to mess me up but I used my teaching math skills and called him on it..lol....

Also for ladies in Calgary, if you haven't thought of swimsuits or bikinis yet, my best friend reminded me that I should get at least one bandeau bikini so I don't get wonky tan lines before the wedding. If you are somewhat endowed in the chest...it is harder to get a bandeau that fits! I did have luck though at the Balzac Mall/Cross Iron Mills at Swim Co...on sale, got one bikini that fits really well! We don't have Swim.Co's in Edmonton. I got another red bandeau bikini at La Vie en Rose and I got four swim suit bags for my BM's and me. Pretty happy with my purchases!

I've got one of the glasses from Pier 1 packed in my work bag today to run past a florist and make sure it's not too small to do an arrangement for a round table of 6-8...I'm just a bit worried.  I was thinking, the other options might be to go with clear glass and look for turquoise glass beads to put in the bottom, or to tint the water that the flowers are in a turquoise colour.

We are going to take those vases from Pier One with us...we will only have about 36 guests, and with 6 or so to a table, we will have enough room in a carryon to take them.

Thanks for the feedback girls! I agree, needs more bling and a few more feathers, I also need to find more flowers!!

Thats so strange because the ones I have are fake so I thought it had something to do with that!  Airing them out definitely helps... just don't want them to stink up what ever we put them in to travel with!!

What are you girls getting your parents?  in addition to making them the OOT bags with a little something special ( I made some custom MOB, MOG, FOB, FOG tshirts, bags for the moms and hats for the dads)  I was thinking about having custom hankies made with a message embroidered on them.  I saw a few vendors on Etsy that have these.  Has anyone else done these?  I am not sure if they are sappy (too much) or sweet.  Is it wrong for me to assume that our parents might cry at our weddings? LOL.  Maybe I should just get them as a keepsake for the moms.

Any other good ideas that you have found locally?

Jennifer,

Swim Co has really nice on piece bandeaus...they are more pricey then La vie en Rose but they had a lot on sale at the store at Balzac mall. Some of the one piecers had tummy hugging stuff....I got a nice black swimsuit I think at winners and didn't realize it had it in it...but I do feel nice and tight;)

Good question,

I really didn't think about getting my dad anything...he hasn't really been involved in our wedding, he himself just got remarried a few weeks ago. What would be appropriate, do I need to give something? He is helping us out with our AHR.

For my Fiance's mother, I made her her fascinator and got her a pashmina. The idea of hats of some kind for the guys is good. I saw one bride and groom on here gave all the men visors, the same color, they were golfing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
