M&M candy favors - Will they melt???

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!

I am planning for my wedding in Cabo Mexico this fall, and have decided I want to use M&M chocolates for our wedding favors (our friends sometimes call us this bc our names are Marvin and Maritza :)).  My question is, has anyone ever used these to travel to Mexico and had any issues with the chocolate melting?

Ordering the candy in bulk gets pricey so I just want to be sure before I order them that we won't have any problems with melted candy in Mexico.  Our wedding will take place in early October, so Mexico will still have 80 degree weather during the day. My plan is to take the chocolates with me as part of my carry on if the airline will allow it.

What do you think? Bad idea???huh02.gif

very cute idea...i wonder if you were to give them out pre-travel..say in your OOT bags or for your AHR..might that be a better option..traveling with food can be tricky and tropical weather..uhm, might not be a good look...

i agree with tori..if you get them in air conditioning right away you might be ok..but if you don't..well, i'd hate to even think about the $$$ going down the drain...

hmmm....  blink.gif

good luck with this one...

Whenever I travel I always buy one of those BIG bags at cosco and take with us. (peanut M&Ms are my addiction) They are always ok (I even have them in my check in bag). They are soft'er by the time we get to the hotel, but I put them in the fridge right away. Now - I have sometimes put a small amount in a ziplock bag for excusrions and they didn't melt - but border line melted :) ... it's a risk I'd say.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
