Looking for help with Hair stylist, Makeup Artist, etc for Aug 20 2011 Grand Palladium

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My fiance and I are getting married at the Grand Palladium in Jamaica 8/20/2011.

She is worried about getting someone there to do the Hair of the entire bridal party and the Mothers...( all the ladies that is)  the guys will probably be fine on their own! Looking at about 8-9 ppl total, and also the Makeup as well.

Not sure if it matters for hair stylists and such, but we are a couple from New Jersey, she likes to be Tan and has Long Brown Hair, I am normally a little tan, with Dark Blonde hair.. and we want the style to be what it is here in the states...

forgive me if I am being naive, but I know Jamaica and New Jersey have very different cultures!

Any ideas or recommendations on who to look into helping with this matter?

The resort has a salon/spa.  I've made appointments for myself, bridesmaids, and mothers for hair and makeup.  I will post a review after my wedding (June).  I've seen good reviews for hair.  Haven't seen too many reviews on makeup.  All I know is that they use Revlon makeup. We're bringing MAC products and having them use it.

All up to you!  Good luck!

My girlfriend just got married in Jamaica a couple weeks ago at the RIU and she brought her own makeup artist/hair stylist

it was awesome. The girls were way more relaxed, they got to get ready in their own room and take their time and relax and enjoy eachothers company privately.

The hair and makeup looked awesome! If you are able to bring your own artist I would recommend this 100% and she gave the girls a great deal since they also booked her for the reception when they flew home!

her name is Krystie Ann she is a makeup artist and hair stylist and she flies out to any location!

good luck! and congrats!

Back from my wedding! As I mentioned above, I booked Renova Spa for my hair and makeup and I promised to report back on the results.

We arrived at the salon for 1:00 pm and my ceremony was at 4:00 pm. There was another wedding the same day as mine but that wedding party was gone by the time we arrived.  One of my bridesmaids decided to do her own hair/makeup, while another was having only makeup done (she has really short hair) and the other was having hair and makeup.   The whole process for all three of us took about 1 1/2 hours.

I did not want an updo, as I never wear my hair up.  I settled on a side ponytail (with extensions) because wearing your hair down is not the best idea, given the humidity.

I was very very happy with how my hair turned out. The stylist was very fast (at the trial it was under half an hour although I did arrive with clean dry hair).  Below are some pics of the end result.  And I should also add that my ceremony was at 4:00 pm. My hair was ready by about 2:30 or so and the hairstyle held for the entire afternoon/evening.

I am pretty picky with my makeup. I was happy with the face coverage/blush and the colours she chose for the eye makeup, but to be honest I changed it up a bit when I got back to my room. I am rarely happy with makeup artist's coverage of my under eye circles or my (non-existent) eyebrows, so I added a bit to that.

I didn't get a good pic of the the makeup while I was at the salon but below is a pic of the final result. I'm afraid I don't have my pro pics yet, or I would have a better close up:

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
