Blau Varadero review (long!)

Thanks!

We opted to get legally married in Canada before we left, so we booked the Renewal of Vows package at the hotel, which is basically identical to the wedding one but slightly cheaper.

The cake and reception dinner were included in the package.

The wedding coordinator Isabel Sabina at the hotel is great, but she is having a baby in March so I'm not sure if she's working right now or they have a replacement.

Hi Ladies!

I have just joined the forum as it seems incredibly helpful.

I am planning to have a wedding in Veradero in May 2012 and have centered on Blau as I love the pictures and the reviews so far. My only concern is that there doesn't seem to be a place you can book for private dancing after the dinner. For those of you that got married in Blau, how did you feel about that? was that a damper at all?

Also, the wedding package that you pay for with the hotel, does that include restaurant decorations (flowers, table cloths, etc), and dinner for certain amount of guests? How much did people have to pay for each extra guest or maybe there was a flat fee to close down an a la carte restaurant. Is it assumed in the wedding package that you will be booking the a la carte restaurant, or is that something extra and the wedding package only assumes that the wedding dinner will be in a corner of the buffet restaurant?

Any help would be appreciated, I fell like everything is so unclear and I don't want to set my heart of hotel without having a better idea.

Thanks in advance!

Dasha

Hi Dasha,

As you might have read in my review, you can always go down to the beach bar and dance there after your wedding, or your group can walk a short distance (less than 10 minutes) to a nearby dance club attached to one of the hotels.

We had our first dance following the ceremony in the gardens. They set up a DJ for you, so just give him an ipod or CD and get him to play your first dance song there.

If you have a beach wedding, your appetizers/cake is served in the beach bar, so you can do your first dance there.

The wedding package includes a dinner at the nice a-la-carte restaurant for all your guests. The restaurant is already appointed with white tablecloths and you can request them to place flowers on the tables (you might have to pay extra for this?) or bring your own decorations like we did, and just let your wedding coordinator know you'd like them distributed on the tables.

Hope that helps!

Thanks!

It was helpful!

I am just still a little confused about the cost. Everywhere I look, Blau wedding package is quoted at 500CUC and says to include an a la carte dinner for the couple only. So what about my guests? how much is the charge, does anyone know? I feel like I should just email the wedding planner all my questions, but I feel like with the language barrier and all, I should try to get all the info I can before hand.

Hi there, my first time on here. My fiancee and I are planning on getting married at Blau in November but we can't get ahold of anyone from the resort, does anyone have a working email address for the wedding planner there? We keep getting non-delivered messages.

Thanks

We are going to Cuba on the 27 April 2011, and are staying in Havana for three days then on two the Blau Varadero  H Hotel H

Hotel. We want to get married while we are in Cuba.

We just want simple wedding as only myself and my future wife are going, beause we have not told anyone we are doing this.

I have been devorsed four years ago, my future wife has never been married before.

I am a UK national and she is Malaysian.

What paper work do we need to bring to Cuba?

Where can we get married?

Who can do the paperwork so we get the marriage certificate?

Can we just register the marrage and not have ceramony?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help

Hi There!  Thanks for the detailed review. I'm getting married here in December...just like you did!  I would like to know three things. 1. My mom is in a wheelchair.  Did you find this hotel to be accommodating for people with disabilities?  2. What time of day did you get married?  Your pictures are gorgeous!  3. What was the beach bar like? Do you have any pictures?  Thanks!
