30min reception help - Beaches

Recommended Posts

I am planning on just having the 30min reception included in BB wedding.  Can any of you ladies tell me if you thought this was a waste, not long enough, what took place in the 30min, etc.  I just cant wrap my mind around paying for a reception/dinner at an all-inclusive - we could eat at restaurant and go to Liquid Bar.  Please help!

I can't offer you any help as to what happens in the 30 minutes, but we were thinking of doing the same as you, going to a restaurant and skipping the "reception".

We will only have probably 12-14 max in our group, so it really shouldn't be an issue.  I can't justify paying for the reception.

Hi Ladies, thought I might offer some advice in response to your questions concerning the 30 min reception. My husband and I were just married January 20th/11 at the BEACHES Turks and Caicos.

Initially I couldnt wrap my mind around paying the extra for a cocktail reception or for that matter the full reception like you had stated at an all-inclusive resort. Basically what you are paying for is the convience of having a location all to yourselves and the bar and servers set up at your location.

In the end we ended up going with the BB package(most elegant & simple) it was perfect especially with the location of our 1 hr cocktail reception that we decided on. We had 23 guests + 3 kids and then ourselves. We paid the additional $25 per/person for the 1 hr cocktail reception and it was definitely well worth it. It was a private location- boardwalk overlooking the Ocean with 1 table decorated and then they set up additional cruiser tables for other guests to mingle. There is quite an extensiive selection of hot & cold Hors d'heures plus cheeses, fruits and dips. They also supplied a set up bar & bartender for that hour. We did our speeches at this location & cut the cake too.

I then made a request to our awesome wedding co-ordinator Patricia to see if it was possible to make a reservation at a restaurant that we had loved. This is not something they typically do but she completely came through. They had all of our tables set up together and we paid nothing extra. She escorted us to this location once our reception was complete.

I know that they list all these additional costs and quite honestly it is ultimately your own decision but coming from someone who was concerned about every little detail right down to the particulars of the loot bags for my guests, everything turned out perfect. The setting alone is enough without all the extras. And girls dont hesitate to ask your wedding co-ordinators for things once your down there. Our's was amazing she went out of her way to do everything and we weren't even married on the resort. We were married in a Catholic Church on the island. She even drove my maid of honour and I in the BEACHES escalade that was complimentary.

Good Luck

Thanks for all of the great information.  This sounds pretty nice, we may just do that too!

Tenny, Check out my review on the BEACHES TURKS roll call thread, it completely goes through everything. We actually had everyone to our suite and then distributed them.

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
