Help! Need Advice For Registration Info for AHR

Hello everybody,

My fiance and I currently live in Boston and are getting married this May in the Dominican Republic.  There will only be immediate family and a few close friends at the wedding and we plan to have receptions back home in Michigan and Washington where we are both from and here in Boston.  Neither of us are having bachelor or bachelorette parties and I am not having a wedding shower.

I am in the process of making invitations for our AHRs and would like to know what I should do about informing our guests about where we are registered.  Initially I thought it would be okay to put this information at the bottom of the card along with the RSVP info but EVERY website I have been reading says NOT to include any registration info on the invites.

I guess I'm just not sure if our situation is unique in that we're having 3 receptions, I'm not having a shower and we also do not have a wedding web page (I think I read that it would be appropriate to inform guests of a wedding web page and then put registration information there).

I certainly do not want to offend anyone.  I don't think people would be offended to have that info on the invite but I'm not sure what to do!  Any thoughts, comments or questions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone :)

Megan

I'm sort of in the same boat except I really don't want a registry (its traditionally cash on my side) but my fiance's family insists (and for whatever reason they are not interested in "passing the word").  Putting it on a wedding website sounds like a good compromise.  However, is there a way to steer people to cash?  I don't want people who were going to give us cash feel pressured in doing the registry -- plus I prefer cash.

There are several registries that can list cash - MyRegistry.com is one that lets you designate a purpose (Honeymoon fund/Home Down Payment fund/etc.) for cash gifts.  You can also link to registries at several different stores to add items for those that would prefer to buy a gift rather than cash.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
