So sorry for the delay in responding!  I am going with free 30min reception at this point cuz I just cant decide!!  I HATE to pay for a reception/dinner when we can all probably go to an onsite restaurant, hang out in a common area/bar on site or go to local bar.  I am not much for the formality of it all and we have enough rooms booked to get the "free" rehearsal dinner so I am just gonna enjoy that!

I am doing BB ceremony/reception w/ the addition of the $250 solo steel drum player for 1hr, addl 2 dozen cupcakes and make-up application.  My friend is going to do my hair - they want to charge like $250 for that - CRAZY!  I am also having an artificial bouquet made here and taking to Jamaica so that my daughter can carry my BB bouquet as bridesmaids bouquet (I couldnt see spending $100 for couple sprigs of flowers when the provided bouquet and other items are not what I really want).

My friend is a travel agent and visited this resort and said the staff is absolutely the best!  so I look forward to some good treatment!  I am also NOT going to pre-purchase a photo package so that I can actually see them before buying them before I leave resort.  My TA's last clients got theirs and they were great but I am kinda nervous about pre-purchasing such a large ticket item that could go to sh** pretty easily.

If you have any other ?'s let me know; I will do my best to be more attentive to my posts - lol.

Oh no BeachesSB1412,

It's totally fine. I am grateful that you are helping with some of my questions, I understand people have lives outside of BDW. HA HA. I am not purchasing a photography package at all. I am however buying the DVD for my cousin who is a photographer will jsut snap pictures, since we can't bring vendors on the resort property. My TA told me that Sandy Bay is the BEST and they are really accomdating as well. We will see. Can't wait to see your pics and read your review. :-) If I have anymore questions I will definately seek you for some answers Thanks soo much!!! :-)

Chloe ROCKS!!!  She is so nice and the coolest thing is that she will even call you.  I emailed her about 15 questions today and she CALLED me to answer my questions.  I got the low down on receptions & the "free" rehearsal dinner w/ 12 bookings.

I met with a recent Beaches SB bride and saw her "digital" photo book.  It was so cool.  She said it took FOREVER to get but it was really neat.  She said she had like 3 Beaches photographers all day and Nicholas seemed to take the best pics.  She said the resort was nice and quaint and she stayed at Sandals Negril after ceremony and actually preferred Beaches SB!  She said the beach is WAY nicer than over at Sandals and there is no pushing and shoving for beach chairs and the beach was never crowded like at Sandals.

I have 6months to go and I am so flippin excited!!!

Hi Beaches SB1412 and FutureMrzMalone!!  I too am planning a wedding at Beaches Sandy Bay for July 2012.  I am going through destinationwedding.com and they told me that my onsite wedding coordinator/planner will also be Chloe.  I have also seen the mixed reviews on TripAdvisor and have to admit a little aprehensive.  I believe I read in one of your posts that someone has pictures?  If so, would you mind sharing them with me?  Your posts on here are a wonderful help to me...I've taken many notes from them!!  Congratulations MrzMalone and best of luck Beaches SB1412!!  Hope to hear from you both soon!

BUMP.

Ladies I am wondering who will be at Beaches Sandy Bay in January 2012.  I will be there the 1st - 7th.  They are SOLD OUT for this time in January (guess I will probably miss out in my "free" upgrade for having 15 rooms booked - pisser!).  I almost didnt get my last 3 groups booked - ugh!

I am so excited!  My MIL and I are working on the reception details; I think I have FINALLY made my decision on my bouquet that I am having made by a family friend and taking with me.

I did find out that, as long as the resort has all the ingredients, you can work with the on-site wedding coordinator and have your own cocktail made for the reception.  I thought this was awesome!  Now I just need to come up with a good tasting, purple cocktail (any suggestions?).

BeachesSB1412 Oh how I have missed you!!! cheesy.gif That sucks about the rooms being sold out. You never know someone might cancel before you guys arrive. So there could still be a possibilty that you can get your upgrade. I can't wait to hear your reception details. As far as a purple cocktail no suggestions at the moment, but I wil see if I can come up with some for you. I joined the SandyBay Group on Fb and it is AWESOME!!! I am guessing the planning is going well?  Are you going to do the full sit down reception?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
