Thanks for the info! I actually heard back from Phil last night through email.  He was very informative and said that he usually will be in the DR 2 weeks out of every month during high season which includes April and May.  He did say to call him after tomorrow and he will be back in the country to chat about his services.  He seems to think he will be there the last two weeks of April next year! Yeah! Let me know if you hear anything.  Have you booked at a resort yet?

Hi swojdyla!

It has been a bit nerve wracking picking a resort so new into a new ownership. My decision was based on the fact that I have been to several properties run by amresorts (they include the Dreams and Secrets resorts) and have loved every minute of it no mater the location.  I also read up on the other NOW takeovers in Mexico, and there were tons of great reviews. Most people stated that it was a seamless transition and that their experience was nothing short of amazing. I also did extensive research on the NH Real, Punta Cana reviews.  The reviews were great even before the takeover, and I know from experience that the food is amazing with the amresorts chain.  The price is also right! You can get great deals immediately following a transfer in ownership. We have a thread started, check it out if you are interested! Have a great night!

Hi Ashmagoo!

I spoke with him yesterday by phone.  He told me he was prob booked on the 30th, must be you ha ha!  I am having trouble narrowing down a day with the resort.  Mostly it is just that they are on Dominican time and take a few days to get back to me.  I am hoping for April 16 or 17th! Phil said he can do either day. I am so excited too, his work is amazing.  Are you doing a TTD shoot? Are you getting a different dress or wearing your ceremony dress? Congrats on booking Phil and have fun planning.

Jenna, I don't think he only shoots at Majestic.  The Majestic actually has a separate resort photographer, Phil just shoots there so much that he can shoot there without a vendor fee!

Have you tried emailing him or contacting him through facebook?  He is very quick to respond!  You can message him on facebook photophil steingard or he is an admin on the majestic colonial brides group as well!!

We just booked him today for our February 2012 wedding!!!

Thanks Tori! I've read on a group onfb for melia brides the resort charges the photographer $1000 to shoot there :( I have emailed Phil asking I just figured maybe someone could answer quicker on here :) What resort did you pick? I go back and fourth with my date. Having great photos is one of the things I don't want to give up by getting married on an island.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
