2012 Barcelo Maya Palace Brides!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi MiaLei.  I am not sure if this question is directed to me or not.  Our wedding isn't until February 11th but we did do a site visit last year.  We will have our wedding at Coral Beach by the Palace and our reception will be at Playa Azul at the other end of the resort.  We decided to go with the Strawberry Passion package as we wanted our reception outside.  We decided if we are getting married in Mexico, we want to be outside on the beach than inside a banquet room with no windows.  Totally a choice and preference as well as what works best for your budget.  If you are considering a banquet room, then I suggest asking for pictures so that you can make a somewhat informed decision given that you have not been able to visit the resort.

At this point I think I am leaning more towards Playa Azul it is available for the date and time that we have our wedding scheduled.

Did you have your reception indoor in a banquet hall or outside? I am torn between the two. We will have more than 50 guest and I my Fiance are trying to stick to our budget. Ultimately he says that we can do either location but I am unsure if I want to spend all the extra money for 3 hours.

Hello Ladies,

I am planning a 20th Anniversary vow renewal at the Barcelo Palace for 8/2012. I have been to the resort and it is truly all that is seems in pictures. While I was there I witnessed several weddings, the one thing I can say is that although there are always those on lookers, for the most part people tend to stay away from the wedding site. I have a question does anyone by chance have the 2012 prices?

Hello everyone!!  I am getting married June 22, 2012.  This site has been so helpful!  Does anyone know anything about the mariachi grill?  I haven't read much about it.  We are having about 50 guests, our ceremony is at 4, then reception our WC as of now has planned for 7.  We arent having a cocktail hour to save money and plan to send people to the bar.  It seems like that is a long time in between to wait for reception to start.  Any suggestions?  Not sure what I should bring from home for reception centerpieces etc. or just have WC take care of everything....  Also, does anyone have suggestions on DJ or just use IPOD?

Thanks everyone, Im excited to chat about everyone's plans!  :)

Congratulations Hrcahill!  Sorry but I do not know anything about the Mariachi Grill.  Have you been to the Unofficial Barcelo site to find any information there regarding it?  Also, I would ask your WC about moving your reception up a bit but it depends on how many pictures you plan to take after the wedding.  Our wedding is at 4:00 as well and figure it will last about 25 minutes or so as we will do the sand ceremony and have a reading.  We will take pictures with family, our guests and wedding party then some pictures on our own before and during sunset.  Our reception is scheduled for 6:30.  Our ceremony is at Coral Beach and our reception is at Playa Azul.  We were planning to send our guests to the Carey Bar in the Palace before heading down to the reception.  We were planning to bring down some decorations for table tops but decided to just have floral center pieces (we are only having three tables so need to only pay for two) and do no want to have to haul down any decorations or haul them back.  We are bringing our iPod Touch for the reception music rather than paying for a DJ.  Again congrats and you will find lots of help here!

Hi gals!!

So i'm getting married at Barcelo Maya Palace 2012, and I am wondering if everyone is having the same trouble as I am. Firstly, I can not get a hold of my WC to answer some questions, so I am going to go here and see if any Brides will have any answers!! Thanks for your help ladies!!!

Question 1.) For those gals who are getting the Strawberry Package, do you know if 15 is the max and then it's $66.00 US per additional guest, do you know if this is true, and what does this cover, I am so confused, since the package is expensive enough, why add on 66 for additional people?

Question 2.) I would like the strings and I have read it's 5 US per string, but does any bride know how many strings are needed for the trees for Playa Azul

Question 3.) When they say they decorate the table,( we have only one table at Playa Azul) does anyone know what that includes, because I just bought some place card holders, then I realized maybe they will provide that??

I think that's all of them {for now at least :)) }

Thanks in advance for anyone who is able to answer one or all of these questions!!!!!

Alison

Hi Macker,

1.  Yes, it is $66 per each additional guest over your 15 included in the package.

2.  String lights are $5 per string.  There are a total of 10 strings so the cost total is $50.

3.  The reception table decorations include chair covers, chair sashes, table cloths, napkins and one centerpiece that comes with the Strawberry Passion package.  They do not provide seating cards.

Hope this helps.  I know that Barcelo has many weddings now as this is their busy season.  How long has it been since you emailed your wc?

Is there only an additional cost for Playa Azul?  We never paid extra at Palmerus and it was all lit up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
