WARNING about WC Jennifer Smith

Recommended Posts

Oh my goodness i find this thread absolutely terrifying. as a destination bride you have to put your trust in the WC to do their job to the best of their ability. Especially if you are arranging everything from a different country!

I am at least living in Mexico - so although it would be a 90 min plane journey to cancun i could always hunt down missing wedding co-ordinators at their office address if necessary...but nobody should have to do that. Im looking for a WC now and im going to make sure i research it thoroughly!

I have decided to only enlist the help of a travel agent for my destination wedding, as the resort I am going to handles many of the wedding details. That being said, a travel agent can be an excellent source in finding a decent wedding coordinator!

I am using Teresa from Wright Travel Agency and even though she is located nowhere near me, she has already been ten times more helpful than the TA I was using in the beginning here at home. She pretty much has the skinny on where to go to for what and seeing as they are the travel agency that put this blog together, they know many of the wedding coordinators in that area and which ones are worth using.

Just a suggestion... I hope everything works out for you! Good luck!!!

I wish I would have read this in September when I hired Jennifer. My family has been traveling to Akumal for years and it's very special to us. We are now in the same boat as you and I just had to fire her. What did you end up doing and who did you go with for a WC? I have 2 months to find a new reception location or else we just postpone the wedding. Please help!

oh what a nightmare! are you making any progress? im furious on behalf of all of you...how can this woman keep getting away with ruining people's weddings?!

there must be someone knowledgable enough to help you, maybe add this info to give people an idea:

what kind of budget do you have?

which is your preferred date? if its weekday might be easier than a saturday?

what kind of wedding (legal, symbolic) and what kind of reception?

maybe its possible to find a venue and then worry about a wedding co-ordinator?

personally i only know about playa del carmen venues (though pretty much every venue under the sun) but im sure someone must have more specific info about akumal

good luck! if you can think of any way to help or support you without specific knowledge i volunteer =)

That's an awesome offer Kristee...hopefully she sees it!  I thought it was bad enough that I could never get TBC to respond to my request for a custom birthday cake...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
