2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was curious about menus too!  I'm having the hardest time deciding...

I have to pick 2 cocktail menus and 2 dinner...  One is the wedding and the other is our farewell dinner...

Do they let you substitute at all?  I have a few non pork eaters and one severe nut allergy.

hey! u sound like me! we've booked 110 ppl at the resort for dec 2012.. we're heading there this wknd to check it out so i can sleep until the wedding!  I'm in the same boat.. wondering what the whole "unlimited private functions" is all about.  Hoping to get all my questions answered this wknd.  not too excited about having randoms all around the ceremony.. have been checking with outside wedding planners in playa to see if theres other venues for the ceremony and reception but it can get really expensive. I've read on here about ppl using the terrace but we have a larger capacity then what it holds.  i would prefer to wear my shoes so maybe if it has to be on the beach they can make a kind of runway type thing? ( love how i wanted a beach wedding but really want to wear my shoes!!) i keep telling everyone .. its like a beach wedding but not really!

Anyone know any details about extending your hours for the reception and/or bringing your own dj?

ill post my findings from this wknd when i get back!

Hello Gina, we Used the microphone for the ceremony.  Cost $300 but i was told nobody would hear anything without it.  Picked an additional song (J:Lennon "Imagine") as people were being seated.

For party, we went with the music provided by the hotel.  They were fine.  I gave them about 10 songs to add to their song list.  Can't remember the price....maybe $1600.....but we figured we saved so much by doing a destination wedding, that we were still in good shape financially.

Hey Andrea!

Looks like we are both at Playacar in Dec :) Mine's Dec 10.

We also have a large group coming (although not as big as yours) - 70 to 90. I hear the terrace is too small but that they do have areas at either end of the resort that is still outside but more private than the beach. Would love to hear what you learn while you're there :)

If you extend your reception, I hear you need to pay extra for the staff. They also suggested moving your party to one of the bars.

have a great trip!

there is only 220 rooms at resort so there won't be thaaaaat many onlookers.  We had some onlookers but they were not obtrusive at all.  In fact, the next several days, several people came up to us and said how beautiful everything was.  I would have the wedding on the beach.  It was beautiful.

If you have a bunch of little kids, you may want to move it inside.  We had Fri nite rehearsal dinner outside of ital restaurant on terrace and it was great....but i don't know where you can fit 120 people outside.  i don't think i would eat on the beach.

Hey Lauren!  Congrats! Your pictures are amazing. I would love to ask you about your beach reception.  What did they charge you to do all that?  the set up?  the lanterns? Ours wedding is 27 days away and were just going to use the solarium.  Thanks so much.  Gina
Hi! Sorry I haven't been on since the wedding! Our wedding was amazing. Everything was so well orchestrated. The set up fee was $65 ( per event) and I did the diamond collection. I did however bring my own decorations too as you can see from the pics that del sol posted. By the way, del sol was sooooo amazing and next weekend is our AHR where we will be showing off all of their hugely talented gift of photography. Just book them, as those pictures are priceless and will be the one thing that remains after that very special day. Wilma was amazing and so helpful. Don't stress it ladies, it was picture perfect! My only complaint would be with dj doremixx who showed up 2 hours late! Luckily, Wilma had the resort dj cover until then, and I didn't notice until she told me. Doremixx never apologized nor offered an explanation. They didn't even come up to say hello! Oh well, I didn't let it bother me, but I wouldn't be booking them. Otherwise, the Playacar Palace was spectacular: small, quaint, with excellent service! All of my guests were really impressed! I did my hair and makeup with styling trio and they were awesome! I totally recommend them! Good luck ladies!

Oh, I forgot to mention ladies that I had my wedding reception on the beach and it was the best decision ever. It felt private, romantic, and with the mariachi, absolutely perfect! We used a mariachi band for only $ 500 for 45 mins and it was a highlight. They had such beautiful voices. They even serenaded us! Soooo special! Also, you guys should know that you can have a beach reception late into the night if you like dancing. We did ours until midnight but for an extra few you could do it even later. It was wonderful and really quite private as nobody is really on the beach at night. Just thought you should know as the palace documents say that you can't go past 10pm but that's not the case:)

Lola: Congratulations! I didn't know those Del Sol photos were actually from your wedding! You look very pretty in the pictures and since I've never been to the hotel, I hope you don't mind me using them as a reference!  I also booked Styling Trio for my wedding and TTD makeup and hair. I'm glad you liked their service!

Pacificarol and Andrea80: My wedding will be on December 9 so I guess I will see you at the hotel! I'm curious what decorations you will bring to the hotel in case we have the same idea... My party only has 20 guests so it's going to be small.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
