I am doing this on a Friday so the night before my wedding but before dinner so people can get their goody bags, some drinks and go drop their stuff of at their room then go to dinner and get some rest or wake up with sunglasses and a hangover haha .... We are doing Strikers the day after the wedding since it's Sunday Funday and my FI already has it planned haha

Hello, Carry Bar is very large and usually not crowded. It can probably fit about 150 people or maybe even more. I don't think you can reserve but worth asking. It is a beautifully designed lounge with large selection of drinks, lounge chairs and piano.

My guests met there before the rehearsal dinner and before the wedding activities and it is good place to start a party.

I don't remember and this thread is def too long too back read. Hehe. I do agree with the current brides to tip 200 for WC and maybe a present. No idea what present yet but just to say thanks :)

We were not sure how much to tip so we tipped WD $60. Sounds like it was too low compared to what others tipped.

My fiance and I are currently choosing between BBPD and two resorts in DR for October/Nov 2014. I was wondering if anyone is planning a huge destination wedding like we are, 100-150 guests, and how it all worked out for you. It seems like since our party is so big we are going to have to use the ballroom for our reception. Any tips on how to lower costs for such a huge wedding but still have a personalized wedding and make guests leave with a lasting impression?

Wow, thats a large wedding! BBPD is great for large groups because it is huge and all the amenities and restaurants can accommodate large groups. We had great time but the general services at the resort is not up to par so you might have a lot of complaints from your guests.

@Tina G Hey hun!  Congrats and happy planning!  We're getting married at the BBPD November 2014. But our guess list is closer to 50.  We're opting to try and bring a vintage chic theme for our wedding.  So in doing so, instead of paying for expensive centre pieces and decorations we're bringing majority of our own.  Lots of work but I am sure it will definitely create a personal touch and definitely leave a lasting impression.  Hopefully that is.  Haha.

@Mary123  in the "reply" section there are two rows of buttons.  Click on the button that looks like 2 mountains and a sun.  If you just hover over the button it will say "insert image".  Hope that helps!  Can't wait to see them!

Hi Mary! Congratulations on your wedding I wish you nothing but the best <3

Yes, our guest list huge and no matter what I do it doesn't diminish. I am Dominican and have a lot of family members. Its a blessing and curse! I am glad to hear that they can truly accommodate such a large wedding, however I am a bit concerned when you mentioned that the general services aren't up to par. What exactly do you mean? Did your guests have any complaints about the resort?

Our travel agent just informed us of all the stuff we can get comp'd if we book with Hard Rock, which is newer and fancier, but for some reason I really like BBPD. I guess a lot of it has to do with all the great input from brides like you.

Thanks Mary!

Hey Tricia! I am glad to hear that we can bring our own stuff/center pieces. I was going back through the threads and was a bit confused. Do you know if they will put the center pieces on the table or will someone from your wedding party do that for you? Originally I wanted to have this modern glamourous wedding but my vision has changed since I bought my dress. My dress is lhas alot of lace detail and is very romantic so I am going to incorporate a lacey romantic feel info our DIY center pieces and decor. Who is your wedding planner? Have you ever been to BBPD?

Good to know it fits enough people, my WC said she would take care of it and prob hold space for me or something, either way it will be before dinner so everyone can do their own thing.

I'm just ready to get a headcount! haha

I looked into the Hard Rock and the amenities are awesome but then your guests will suffer and pay more than any other resort so you might get fewer people to attend!

I have to agree here, the wedding package doesn't really include much and everything is out of pocket and honestly, i could be a little biased, but the videos I've seen of wedding at the Hard Rock don't appear very special. Stick with BBPD!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
