Trivera, have you decided what you going to do regarding a photographer yet? I thought my "good" friend would do us the favor and i'm now getting slack about how could i invite her as a guest and expect her to take the photos. I love the photos that tropical does but the packages don't exactly look appealing.

Miss Jalli we actually battered with a photographer out if NYC. We are covering all their expenses for 5 days including airfare, hotel n airport transfers in exchange for covering the entire week and rights to use our photos on their website. We are however planning on using tropical pictures for their videography services that I plan to play during dinner at our AHR. What I did was went through a most if the photographers on wedding wire and emailed the ones I liked directly with the barter proposition. It was actually an overwhelming response!

Trivera, she still agreed to do my TTD session but doesn't want to work for the wedding lol. Did you find it to be cheaper to use a NYC photographer and just pay the expenses? I looked into 2 places in Punta Cana, HDC Photo and Carribean Emotion and their prices aren't that bad actually (about $750) but I guess if you have someone shooting the entire week, you definitely got a much better deal. I loved HDC Photo's videos so i might go with them for the photos and video session. I just need someone to take pictures of the main event, i don't need prints or a photo book, i can do all of that myself as long as I have the actual cd.

Miss Jali,

There are so many way more affordable and talented photographers in the area that I would have opted to use however BBPD has an exclusive agreement with Tropical Pictures. If you use an outside vendor such as HDC or Carribbean Emotions the resort charges you an outside vendor fee of $1000 which is insane and a big reason why I opted to do what I did. I see your from NYC as well so its costing me less than $1200 for him and his assistant (husband and wife photographer team) flying in thurs leaving monday. Covering the welcome party on thursday night the entire wedding day on Saturday and my TTD shoot on Sunday. I will incur the cost to print the shots and they give me all the prints on CD's all edited in Hi-Res without their logo. Not to mention that I love them as a couple and their energy will absolutely vibe with my over the top and loud Puerto Rican family =) All in all I think I came off!

Hey Ladies,

I'm brand new to this site, and would like to thank everyone for their detailed reviews and messages, as it has helped me decide to get married at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. I'm not getting married until March 2014, but find it very frustrating that they won't let me book until April 2013. How am I supposed to send out invitations if I don't know that I can get married there? Susana doesn't seem to want to deal with me just yet, and keeps saying to contact her in April 2013. Have any of you dealt with this? I have family members overseas and around the world, so the more notice I can provide them, the better. I'm just worried that I'll send out invitations, only to find out in April 2013 that our date is booked or unavailable.

On another note - I also contacted Tropical Pictures for price quotes, but they said they haven't adjusted their 2014 prices yet. Do any of you ladies have 2013 prices that you would be willing to share with me so I have some sort of an idea?

A few more questions:

 - For those of you who have already gotten married at this resort, did you find that it's a better deal to get the basic DJ, or the DJ with MC?  I think prices may have gone up recently, because I was able to get a few questions answered before telling Susana that we aren't getting married until 2014, and she did tell me that the basic DJ is $600 USD for 3 hours, while the Full DJ with MC and cold fire is $1100 USD for 3 hours.   Has anyone else been quoted prices this high? It seems everyone else is getting significantly lower quotes...

If anyone has any tips or useful information, I would love to hear it, since I'm still pretty clueless. My email is [email protected]

Thank so much, and good luck to all of you!!

Welcome Jamie, I am also going to be a March 2014 bride. I'm set on March 8, 2014 which I'm sure won't be a problem. I originally had an October 26, 2013 date but had to push my date back. Susana is also my wc and i got the oct date pretty easily. If I'm not mistaken, most brides on here got the date that they wanted. My travel agent is actually trying to see if I can get the date confirmed already, but I'm not worried about it. If not, I will be bugging Susana in March. I am sending out the STDs in february. As long as you give your guests a month and a year, they can pretty much start planning towards it. My family is pretty open to whatever date we get. Just let your guests know you plan to get married March 2014 and as soon as you have the date finalized, you can give your guests the details, but I'm certain you won't have a problem getting your date.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
