February 2011 (or whenever ^_^)

Sooooo our wedding is six months away tomorrow. We sent the STDs a month ago and invitations have not gone out yet. I did create a wedding website and have a lot of people talking about it, but the only one who have booked are FI and I. Should I be worried? What about you guys? How many ppl have booked so far?

Our wedding is actually the same day as yours (178 days to go!) and people have just started to book for ours.  I think we're at 8 people booked as of today.  We got an early booking bonus which requires payment by the end of this month though, so thats really the only reason that some of our guests will book this early.  People will always have a tendency to think the prices will get better closer to the actual wedding date.  Even with the early booking rate we got, we STILL have people telling us that its overpriced and the price will go down.  Our TA is pretty confident that the price we have now is the best we're going to get, and we trust her so... yeah lol.

If you can get in touch with a good TA and secure a really good group rate you will probably have a better chance of people committing and booking right away.

Good luck to you!  We haven't sent out invitations yet either... just an email STD and more emails about booking with the early bonus.  Hoping to have invitations out to everyone within the next month.

My wedding is February 7th and we sent out the invites a few weeks ago. So far it's just us that booked, and I'm getting super annoyed because people keep waiting for "better prices". I'm a little worried because it's peak season and I don't want to resort to sell out or anything before our guests book. They have until October 28th to put deposits down so hopefully by by then some people will commit. Good luck!

My wedding is Feb 26th.  So far, only the wedding party and 4 guests have booked.. 10 in total.  The early booking bonus was quite high, but we were willing to pay it just for the satisfaction of "knowing" our trip was booked and confirmed.  I know most other people are waiting to see if prices drop closer to the date.  I've been checking and so far it has gone down about $100.  My invitations are going out this week and I'm hoping that will motivate some people to start booking.

The majority of our guests ended up booking the 2 days before our group rate / early booking bonus expired.  I was getting really worried until the calls to our TA started pouring in on those last couple of days.

Just thought I'd let you guys know in case thats what your guests end up doing too!  People really like to wait until the last minute for some reason.

My invitations went out in mid-July (wedding is February 3, 2011).  We got a group rate -- people have until October 1st to put their deposits down.  We thought that giving people lots of notice would be good... but instead, everyone just thinks they have tons of time and are waiting for better prices.  But here we are, 5 months away, and the prices online are still $100 more than our group rate.  How long do people want to wait???   We only have 8 people booked, including bride and groom!  I'm getting slightly annoyed at our groomsmen, who both make lots of money but are willing to wait longer to maybe save just a couple bucks.  At least my bridesmaids have booked.

My cousin actually got married a year and a half ago in Mexico and her hotel sold out, so I am a little worried.  Hopefully everyone books before the deadline...

I'm getting married next month, and I would say most of our guests booked in late July, which was about 3 months ahead.  It was a HUGE pain...especially since my deadline on the invitation said June 30th.  I still have people calling me about rooms.  Luckily, they are the same price now as the group rate I got.  I even told most people when they called that I had personally put a deposit down to reserve their room.  People don't care!

Definitely start calling people about booking about 3 months before your wedding.  Also keep an eye out on the rates for sure.

Good luck!!  I know this part is SOOO frustrating but it all works out in the end :)

Our wedding is Feb. 25, 2011 and we have a lot of people waiting to book to see if the prices will come down. I've tried to get them to book early so they are guaranteed to be on our flight, but you can only nudge so much. I'm not stressed about it at all, but that's because I don't have anything financially riding on them coming. I know it is frustrating, though. Good luck!!

I feel EXACTLY the same way you do!!!!! 2 of the groomsmen have not booked yet and now the flight we are taking there has SOLD OUT! I'm so stressed about about them because they are "dreamers" lol, but trying not to let it get me down...all my girls have booked. Must be a girl thing to be more responsible! haha Now they are going to have to pay more for the trip...so it doesn't pay to wait....ok, glad I got that off my chest, I feel better now. And glad I can share my frustrations with others that are dealing with the same things! Yeah for BDW website!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
