  1. We did Forever by Chris brown for our welcoming song, it was PERFECT!!
  2. Hi Jenny! The sunset time online was pretty accurate. My ceremony started at 5 and the sun was supposed to set at 6:15, which it pretty much did...The light started going away a little probably around 5:30, it was pretty dark by 6:30.
  3. Woops! I just realized I had posted the same things at least 3 times, sorry! The system was going haywire. Jes - You did everything so quickly!! I sent mine via mail to SS office and going to the DMV tomorrow. Was it easy to change on credit cards etc.??
  4. Hi! Thanks so much! My ceremony was at 5:00. I thought it was a great time to do it. We did rush a little bit during cocktail hour to get pictures but everything worked out great. I didn't mind rushing the pics since i'm not big into posing for pics anyway. Plus, since your in June...you'll have more than an hour more sun than I did, so i think a 6:00 ceremony is perfect in June If you want a little more sun for first dance, etc...you can switch to 5. I'll make sure to post my Funever pics when I get them. We also did symbolic and it seems very official because you sign a certificate at the end in front of everyone.

  7. Welcome back Jess! Glad everything went perfectly for you Getting back to reality SUX! I've been back one week and i'm still not totally there yet...
  8. I am taking my husband's last name. We both come from traditional families, and it seems the way to go for me! I am keeping my middle name the same. I have a "boy's" name for my maiden name so I hope I will have sons that I can pass that name on to. Most of my married friends have changed their last name, and 1 kept her maiden name. I recently met one couple who had both of their names hyphenated, and the wife told me it was a long process, especially with her husband changing his.
  9. Been crazy at work unfortunately...finally had a chance to do my review. Wish I had some professional pics though...i don't see why it should take sooo long. Oh well, here it is!! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/the-royal-in-playa-del-carmen-all-inclusive-spa-resort
  10. Thanks everyone! Working on the review right now.... Jenny - I would definitely recommend the spa, the girls there did a great job and they make sure everything is the way you want it. But for makeup they don't have a huge selection...so I would bring foundation and mascara yourself (I got dior blackout waterproof which was awesome!).
  11. Hi Ladies!! I am back from my amazing wedding & honeymoon! I feel like I’ve been gone forever but everything went by so fast. I’m going to post a full review with pics by tomorrow but here is just an overview… Hotel – amazing! We had an oceanfront room and the view was great. Very spacious room. Everyone was super friendly & helpful. We hung out a lot at the pool and it was great. Resort food – Very good! My ONLY complaint was a very bad dinner experience at Tapas y Pinxos…had to wait over 1.5 hours and we were missing orders…we ended up leaving. Also…Spice does not have AC, we ate breakfast & lunch a lot at Mediterraneo…which is a buffet in the A/C. Also…Grand Porto has a great buffet for breakfast/lunch. Maria Marie & Asiana were awesome! Spa – did Mani Pedi & Hair/Makeup. Amazing Mani Pedi! Makeup and hair was also very good. My advice would be to not wear your hair down. It was windy and my hair was flying everywhere and the curls fell out quickly. WC – Lili was amazing & took care of everything! We went over all the details 2 days before the wedding and she was running around making sure everything was perfect for us. Photos – We used Funever & we had Cesar who was really good! We get the pictures in 2 more weeks. Ceremony – Gazebo was great…we ended up with 24 guests seated under the gazebo. Was intimate and very peaceful…the minister was great. She said everything perfectly and with a lot of meaning. Cocktail Hour – in the garden behind the gazebo…everyone loved the food and the guitarist we got. We had an “upgrade†apparently which included all hot and cold apps. The sesame crusted chicken was a huge hit! I wish I had been able to enjoy it. Reception – AWESOME! DJ and extra hour was worth it. Most of the time almost the entire group was on the dance floor (which was a dark wood raised floor, ill post pics in the long review). Food & Cake was great. The servers were awesome at getting drinks for us…they wouldn’t even let us walk up to the bar and always found us to give us a refresher. A lot of the married people there said that they wished their wedding was like ours. That was a nice compliment It was such an amazing experience and everything went perfectly! Just make sure you really take time to enjoy if you can….it goes by sooo quickly!
  12. Thanks everyone for the well wishes!! I will be sure to post a nice long review when I come back! Fancy That - great pictures..I wish I had found her before
  13. Hi Ladies! I am leaving tomorrow and am SO excited! I think everything is set! Packed my clothes and OOT bags up. Now just the things like camera...sunscreen etc. Got my wax done yesterday and it was more painful than I remember, yikes! The sucky part is that I had a sinus infection the past week..but now finally the antibiotics are kicking in luckily. Meeting with Lili on Thursday and then the big day is Saturday. I printed out all the stuff to go over with her and my sis (who used to plan weddings) has her own task list, haha. I'm getting my hair/makeup done there and using Funever Photos (which I am really nervous about but was the most reasonable price). So I'll let everyone know all about it...I come back on Nov 9th. We are leaving right from Mexico for 7 nights in Belize! Can't wait to let everyone know how it goes!!
  14. I'm having Filet & Snapper (without the seafood stuffing, it is disgusting). I'm having everyone's placecards tied to maracas. The coral ribbon is going to be Beef and the teal ribbon is going to be for Snapper. Bride2B22 - You can get something printed really quick and stuff it in the invitations before you send them?
  15. Jes - Fort Lauderdale is a very easy airport, that's the one I use the most. If you have to go back through security...they are very nice to let people in if they are at risk for being late. It's my favorite airport in Florida for sure.
  16. Where do you connect in Florida?? How long is your connection? That's where I'm from so I'm pretty familiar with the airports. That's so weird that they are making you do that...what airline? I can't believe you had so many people come! We had 120 and our final count is 28.
  17. I'm not going to be doing an AHR either. Part of the reason we did a destination wedding was because it would be cheaper than having a wedding at home. We might have a small party at our house though...for our friends that weren't able to make it.
  18. I'm doing a choice of entree for mine (Snapper & Filet) and there wasn't a problem. You just have to give them a list before hand of how many and then denote on the placecards who gets what. I'm using teal ribbon for fish and coral colored ribbon for beef.
  19. Awesome! Your the 1st other bride i've seen on here getting married on 10/30. Everyone says to me "halloween"? But I don't care, hehehe. Secrets Maroma is awesome! I'm getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen. Our ceremony is at 5, so about an hour before sunset? We're getting so close!!!! I printed out a little sheet to put in my OOT bags with the time change. Hope it helps!
  20. Thanks for the reminder! It's a little weird because I'm getting married Oct 30th...the time changes that night in Mexico but it does not change in the US until Nov 7th...but at least my guests will get an extra hour of sleep!
  21. Congratulations!! Everything looks so good! I'm having 4 tables and Dorremix as well so I'm so happy to see yours all set up. Now if I can just coerce them to give me the Tres Leches....
