Question for past brides of ror in regards of not having a reception

Recommended Posts

I joined this site a couple of days ago and im loving it ! Thank you all for all your wealth of knowledge and information , it is great since we have to basically plan ourselves details on reception and so forth.

I have been reading a lot , but i have a very specific question.

We are going to the ROR and im still not sure about the private reception , since as per my count so far we will only be about 12 or 15 people .

What other things are there to do after the meal to enjoy ourselves without having to pay the $55/ person and then $15 more for open bar ??

Thank you in advance,,,

You could just hang out together by the bar!  If you have such an intimate amount of people, you're sure to have something to talk about as a group!  I had 30 people at mine at RMB and we hung out together for a few hours before dinner.  It was pouring rain, so we had to be indoors, but it was a great chance for everyone to catch up on lives as well, since we were all disbursed amongst the hotel for the majority of the time leading up the wedding.

Good luck!  Anything you choose to do will end up being perfect anyway!

Thank you for your advice, this is what i was thinking about,, we already will have paid the hefty fee of an all inclusive resort, it just does nt make sense to me to spend this much more money if we are such a small group.

And i notice you are from Canada too, nice to meet you !

Hello ladies!

I'm confused! We are wanting to the have a private poolside reception. And i too was under the impression that is was an extra $55/person and then open bar fee on top of that. However we are getting the Caprice package deal with is the biggest one, for about 40guest...simply because i wanna get the extra services lol its not everyday or even year i get to go away...however i was informed by the MICE coordinators that private reception was $1000 extra on top of the wedding package fee.  Which to me seemed much more reasonable than $55 per person....anyone have any insight, or information about this???

Hello Ochoriosbride , jaja, love your username! should have thought of that one ,,, : )

Unfortunately i do not have an answer and now i m REALLY confused. As per all the posts i have read , all the ladies went with the free package because theres no maximum amount of people that you can have ( minimum of 5 rooms booked is required though ) and then did all the upgrades .

What i have read is the following :

Free ceremony : almost no decoration as i can see in the pics, most of the ladies have hired Tai Flora to do all the decor and flowers , or brought some decor from home and arrange for a family member / friend to help them set it up.

Semi private reception included at one of the specialty restos.

For private reception ( DRinks only $55 /person and another $15/person for open bar)

You can select your location but it will cost you an extra $500.

I do not know where the $1000 comes from ,, maybe is just to serve the food outside of the restaurant, wherever it is you choose to have your private reception ?

Sorry if i am confusing you more,, i really do not know and will definitely ask my WC at Riu. But when you know

PLEASE PLEASE DO LET ME KNOW !

Cheers and nice to meet you fellow Canadian...

I am not getting married at the ROR but we arenot having a private reception.  Personally I feel it is silly to pay for drinks when it is an AI and we can just all find a place to hang out.  As for dinner we are just going to head down to the resturants and see what happens.  Maybe ask for a group of tables to be reserved ahead of time.  But that is us.  We  are very laided back about most of the things and dont want a production. Just want everyone to enjoy each other and their time.  Very informal.

Yeny...Im still somewhat in the dark. I wish i had more information to give you. I know what i want to happen for my wedding, i just dunno price wise whats its going to cost me, and i cant seem to get a solid secure answer as to what other reasonable options are.  Everyone says something different.  The Caprice package price is $2375 it accomodates up to 60guests or less and have alot of smaller things included for the bride and groom, wich is what i wanted.  However we want to have our dinner/reception private and poolside.  I dont understand why they would charge u $15/person for open bar, when u payed for all inclusive, OR why they would charge you and extra  $55/person if you are already dishing you $2375 for inclusive dinner for the Caprice Package...im just sooo confused lol Ive emailed the WC to get some kinda confirmation as to what kinda money im looking to be spending just to have a priavet dinner reception, but no reply yet....ill keep you posted, u keep me posted

oh and video, and pics are not included in this package, thats its a seperate cost...if you go to www.weddingsbyriu.com you can find what is included in each of the wedding packages and cost of each.

Thank you Ocho Rios bride ! I have also emailed my WC to get info on all the packages  ( whats on the website its not enough info for me , lol ).

Still do not have a response, although i must say i usually get one within a week or so.. not too bad, taking into account my wedding is not until April ( and shes only supposed to contact you 3 months prior to the wedding ).

I want to know more of the decor that is included at this point i think i will go buy a wedding collection decor i found at party packagers and bring it with me , as per what i hear from other brides this would probably be my cheapest option... : (

i know what you mean, i also was inclined to get the caprice package,, because my thoughts were that if i pay this amount of money everything like decor music, private reception and such would be covered,, but its true what you are saying everyone says something different,,, anyhow , let me know when you get an answer and i will definitely let you know when i get mine,,

Cheers

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
