When do I start hearing from my WC

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls!

I'm getting very excited now my wedding's less than 3 months away! This weekend we ordered our rings, got his shoes (which was a complete drama!!) and ordered the favours. So happy we've got loads done and we are nearly all ready for Mexico.... but now what??

I've not yet heard from my WC who is based at the hotel - Riu Tequila.

It seems all the 'big' stuff like location, meal, flowers, cake etc is still left to sort out now and whilst I've enjoyed not having too much to organise - and been bragging about how easy a DW is, now I'm starting to panic slightly!

I knew this would happen as I can be a bit of a control freak and I'm trying to squash this feeling of panic growing inside of me! smile43.gif

When do you start hearing from your wc - I've been told 6 weeks.... but that seems a really short period of time to organise these things, I know they are pro's at this and that will probably be plenty of time.....

Just look for a bit of reassurance from you guys - Please tell me all will be fine..... LOL!!! fryingpan.gif

don't know if it might be different at your resort, but i've heard from all of the dreams resorts brides and most of them finalize all those details when they get there! it's like an hour long meeting with your WC and you're done :)

i am also a bit of a control freak and at first i got really nervous cause i wasn't hearing from my WC, but i've just let it go now since i know that they do this day in and day out and i'll just finalize everything during our meeting. the only thing that i made sure i had in writing was out date (of course, lol), the time of our wedding, and specific locations for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception (ie gazebo, beach, terrace, etc).

I certainly think it makes a difference on the resort. I know that I just put down the deposit for our resort last week, and I have heard from the WC almost regularly for the last two weeks. I know another girl (I met on here), who is working with the same WC I am at the resort and she's been working on flowers and such. Neither of us get married until March (her) or April (me) next year.

You could always contact the WC and see if there is anything you should be doing or if that is taken care of when you get there. That will at least give you some comfort!

I think communication from the WC really depends on the resort. I don't really know much about brides' experiences with Riu Resorts or Riu Tequila.

I was very fortunate to have an excellent WC, who was prompt in answering all my e-mails and worked to accommodate our requests. The only things I had arranged/confirmed ahead of time were the date/time of the ceremony, reception, and dance, the locations of the ceremony and reception, and hiring of the DJ for the dance. We met with the WC the day after we arrived to decide on menu for the reception, the cake, final number of guests, flowers, additional decorations, and transportation to the ceremony.

If you have any special requests that would not normally come with a wedding package at your resort, I would try to get ahold of the WC ahead of time to double-check your requests can be met.

Thanks for your advice everyone! Carolina 24 - I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

I've contacted my WC and they've emailed back saying that they will contact me between 8-4 weeks before and see what extras I want and confirm the time (I already have the date confirmed!). Then we will arrange everything else when we get there!!

Phew.... panic is starting to fade!

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
