Bridal Shower Questions

Recommended Posts

OK, so this past Sunday I had my bridal shower. It was an amazing bridal shower and I was so surprised!! I honestly had no idea it was my shower. My mom threw it for me (no MOH or BMs) and my brother’s gf helped along with my dad, brother and FI. So, now I want to go out this week and get thank you cards, but I have a few questions and I couldn’t find the answer on here…

1-When I make out the thank you cards, do I thank that woman that went to the shower or the woman and her husband? All the girls at the shower signed the gifts with just their name, but is it assumed it is from the guys too?

2-Since my Mom threw me an amazing shower I wanted to give her a small gift, but what? I really want her to know how much I appreciate her throwing a shower for me.

I've always been of the understanding that the shower gifts are from the girls. The girls attend the shower with their gifts and it's to you from her (even though it's really to both of you). The wedding gifts are to both from both.

Now if you'd had a Jack and Jill shower, different story.

That's just the way I see it anyway.

I just finished and mailed my thank you's from my shower today!

I had a similar question becuase I actually had one uncle show up?!? So, I used the cards from the gifts as my guide, whoever signed the card, got the the thank you!

I had the advantage of knowing about the shower, so i had beforehand bought some fresh flowers for my mom and arranged them in a vase, and presented them to her at the shower with a card that i wrote a near novel in! She was suprised and appreciated it.....since yours is over, you could still send flowers or take her out for dinner or something.

I'm happy that you had a nice shower. It's a very sweet event so I'm sure the girls will appreciate the thank you notes. I'd make them to the girls only since it was them attending. The wedding thank yous will obviously go to the couple but this is a girl thing :)

For your Mom, it is really hard to say since we don't know what she likes.. Massages/spas are always good if that's what she is into. There are lots of great glass/crystal gifts for Moms specifically so maybe something like that will be more special. I've seen some really beautiful jewelry boxes or candle holders with quotes or something sweet for the Mom.. When choosing my wedding gifts, I was trying to get things that would last a long time for the recipients although I'm a big fan of spas/restaurants myself wink.gif

Thanks for the input. I will start making out the thank you cards I think to the girls only, unless the card was signed by both. All the cards except for 3 were signed by just the girls.

I have decided to get my mom a 90 minute massage and get myself one too and then take her out to lunch. I think that is something she will love.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
