Any Gran Bahia Principe brides out there?

Recommended Posts

So after thinking we were completely decided on Dreams Tulum in the Mayan Riveria my mom brought up the Gran Bahia Principe and we feel in love with it.

My concern right now is I e-mailed the coordinator at the beginning of the week and she still hasn't gotten back to me. Should I be concerned?

Hey!

Not at all!! Beverly is the coordinator and sometimes she response asap, but other times it takes a while! There is another GBP thread on here with lots of info! and even some pix of a recent wedding. There is also a thread in the general information section. If you want to pm me with your email I can forward you the wedding package info so you can look at it....The place looks amazing!! I can't wait to get there!! only 6 months left! When is your wedding?

Hey I sent you my email :)

That would be awesome if you could e-mail the information to me, I feel like I've been waiting forever.

We're still up in the air about dates but it's going to sometime end of April, beginning of May 2011. :) So excited!

Hey Tris,

I am flying out April 30th-May 7th 2011 with our wedding on May 3rd 2011...its crazy that we will prob be there at the same time!!!

All I have gotten from Beverly is the packages with details and costs...it seems like I will have to get my but into gear in the new year though.

Hey Katelynn!

Actually since this post we've spoken to her and secured our date as May. 2nd / 2011 !

We will be flying out on April 27th if all goes as planned.

So we will be there at the exact same time!

so exciting! Its nice to have someone planning at the same time so if we have questions hopefully one of us will know! I think we are going with the package thats $1600..dont remember the exact name of it - but Beverly sent it to me awhile ago.

We were planning on bringing fake flowers but it looks like they will be about the same for real at the resort and we dont have to worry about trucking them down. Still working on researching a restaurant...I was thinking gourmet but then our travel planner said one is over the water....things to ponder over the next couple of months.

Have you gotten anything started?

We have some decisions made here and there, but nothing set in stone yet.

We're planning on paying the extra $2500 to have a restaurant reserved just for us (one of the other brides who got married there mentioned it). So we'll have to wait and see which ones would be available.

We're also going with the middle option. Seems like the best deal since the more expensive one doesn't really have that many more perks from my understanding.

We've gotten a few group rate quotes and are going to try again in August when we send out our "Save the Dates". Until then just a lot of window shopping I guess. The only other thing we're going to be booking soon is our photographer :)

We arent doing the private restuarant as our wedding planner said that they 1/2 the restaurant and put up curtains etc so its pretty private anyways. We are still looking for a photographer...got a couple of quotes but we are shopping around still. We have our rates, 1600 for royal golden and 1500 for regular. We are allowed to drop our rate once if a lower price comes up...our travel agent said she would contact us when she found a good one to bump down to.

We sent out our invites at the end of May and they have to have a $200 deposit in by August 15th as our travel agent said that right now they only book groups but starting Sept 1st they open it to the public so I thought I would get going on it.

We are just starting our OOT bags...slowly but they will get done! Got all the wedding party attire now just the dads. Seems like I am really organized but I am starting everything so early as I go to school and work full time...this wedding is a breath of fresh air from the norm!

Have you decided on your wedding colours and have you gotten your dress?

Oh wow, you're so much further along than I am!

We got a group rate from itravel2000 but it was only good for 3 days. Either way, it gave us an idea of around what it would cost (approx $1200 from Winnipeg).

We're sending out our Save The Date's in probably August. From my research for DD's Save the Dates are supposed to be sent out 6-8 months before and formal invites 2-4 months. August would be 9 months before, but I'd rather give them some time.

I didn't know there was curtains put up. Hmm... Maybe we will reconsider.

Wedding colors are picked out by me, too bad my fiance doesn't agree... not to mention isn't offering any other options, so we've kind of hit a dead end. I'm a graphic designer so you'd think he'd trust me? Haha. What are yours?

No dress yet. Sometime later this month probably :)

Right now we're spending a lot of time planning our wedding social in September. It's kind of a Manitoba tradition and it works well considering not all of our friends will be able to attend the wedding. PLUS one of my bridesmaids is moving to Australia a few days after sad.gif

Sounds like you have gotten a lot of things in motion.

We didnt send out save the dates as word travelled fast that we were getting married and in Jamaica so many people started saving before we sent out invites. Our wedding colours and teal and orange...I have been stressing out trying to find teal chair sashes but I think I have finnnally found some, however they are from Hong Kong?!

Right now we have 31 people attending and we are waiting for about 20 more replies back...kind of exciting to see who is going.

$1200 is an awesome rate...I thought ours was high as we only wanted to spend around 1200...hopefully it will lower for us to that so we can pick it up.

As for the restaurant someone else said on here that they didnt go private and they still had the majority of it...I think they had around 40-50...something I will deffinately ask when I am close to the date...dont know if I can fathom paying $2500 extra for it but we will see!

Have you heard anything about bringing a photographer as ours is saying that if we say we are bringing one he will have to get a visa (as he will be working there - for 1 day!), and that he might have to pay the resort...he said this happens at the beaches. He said to tell the resort that he is a family friend and doing it for us as our wedding gift - to get out of all of this. I have contacted our wedding planner today we will see what she says.

Are there any brides on here that brough their own photographer to the Gran Bahia...did you encounter any problemshuh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
