Just wanted to let the Sandals brides know a couple of things about the Sandals Wedding Coordinators you are assigned when you first book your wedding:

1) They are not the WC you will be using at your resort: you will not have contact with THAT WC until you reach the resort!

2) They are mostly just saleswomen. Yes, they book your time and day for your wedding and they can send you pics of the places you can get married at, but they can't provide you with very specific info (if anything, they wing it)! They make commission on what they sell, which is why they are so pushy. They probably have never even seen the resort you will be married at.

3) Don't worry; if you don't book extras with them (candlelight dinner, hair appt, photography, ect) you can still book with the actual WC at the resort. And it would be nice to let the real WC earn those commissions anyway!

4) The WC accents are fake. I just called mine two minutes before closing, and she seemed to have LOST her accent. Yes, Melony "Nina" Samuels was as American as I am! I think they are based out of Florida.

*Many of you might have figured all of this out right away, but I am way too trusting and didn't understand this. The couple I dealt with were very pushy about me planning details that they made money off of, but didn't really care about which SPOT I wanted to get married at, ect. They are very nice, but very aggressive selling the extras. Thought you'd like to know!

Thanks for the info! I figured all of that from other things I read on here. I am booking everything when I get down there (only 2 people coming with us so I am not having a private reception dinner). The only thing I am using the Florida-based WC is for the documents needed to be sent ahead of time :)

I agree...I would rather let the WC at the resort make the commision since she'll be doing more regarding the wedding anyway.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a small wedding party :) In the beginning we had so many people say they wanted to go, but when it comes down to it, it will most likely be just just our parents and siblings with their families. So I'm guessing maybe 5 or 6 adults and a few kids, not counting myself and FI. There's a part of that that is thankful that planning should be a little easier, but there's also a part of me that feels like I'm missing out, because I don't really need to plan anything on a larger scale. Not sure if that makes sense, but really don't know how to explain it. confused.gif

Now back to the topic....lol

I am definitely thankful for the less planning :) Keeps things more relaxed these next 6 months...you will have a fabulous time whether you have 5 or 500 people with you! It's really about what you make of it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
