Olowalu Plantation House Related

Hello, all

could someone who had their wedding or going to have their wedding help me out with this?

I saw that on there website there is a this part under terms and conditions

Quote:
Insurance Requirement

As stated in the "Site Use Agreement" OEA requires a One million dollar insurance policy naming Olowalu Elua Associates as addition insured and provides the date and name of the event being covered. Failure to receive this insurance will result in the cancellation of the event.

What does this mean exactly? That I need to take out a one million dollar insurance policy on the house for one day? How much would that be anyone knows?

Also, it says on the website that

Quote:
The bedrooms and baths are limited to the bridal parties use only.
Does that mean the guests cannot go into the house i.e. living room etc? Or does that only apply to bedrooms and baths?

We'll not have a DJ, we plan to play music from our ipod, and the website says

Quote:
IPod Players are allowed but must be supervised by an approved Sound Technician.
Anyone has done this before? Any approved sound technician to recommend?

Any other Olowalu Plantation House related issues/concerns/experience will be greatly appreciated.

I've never been to Hawaii, and I am looking into this place because everyone else seem to like it so much. Anyone care to share your reason for like this place?

Thanks.smile03.gif

I have booked my wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House for next year. I was told that in order to have your wedding there you have to book a wedding coordinator and any wedding coordinator would take care of the insurance as part of their package.

My understanding is that only the bridal party is allowed in the house period. I'm sure if a few extra people went in it would be fine but definitely don't plan on having anything for the guests inside.

In regards to the music I think they are just concerned with the noise volume, again, since you have to have a wedding coordinator just have them be responsible. It is their job after all!

I hope this helped and good luck!

I've sign the contact, and found out the details about those questions and figure i'd share it here in case others might find it useful.

Insurance, yes, need to get it, depending on the number of people, and alcohol or not, etc, it runs about 100-200 dollars for the day.

Guests can use the house, just not the bathroom in the main house, there is a separate bathhouse that has a mens and womens with 2 stalls in each for guests. Reason being the house is over 90 years old hence the plumbing might not support large number of guests. The guests can use the house, but just to be sure they don't break anything or we'll end up paying for it.

Yes, IPod Players are allowed but must be supervised by an approved Sound Technician, and most of the DJ's will provide this service or try Gus at Take 3 808-874-7083.

I saw the thing about the insurance on the contract too, but when I asked my co-ordinator about it she said dont worry she takes care of that. So I dont know if maybe co-ordinators have their own insurance already. So thanks for posting that because I know that saved me a couple of hundred dollars now!

Hello all!! I know this thread hasn't been active for a while but I am hoping to find some great advice from some ladies who have already done it! I am planning a Maui wedding and cannot quit thinking about Olowalu Plantation House. I got a proposal and it is sky high! I know that we have to have a wedding coordinator but I want to do a lot of things on my own to save money.  Did anyone use a WC just for the location? Any suggestions??

Thank you!!

I ended up using Cherise from the perfect maui wedding. She charges a flat fee $700 and allowed me to book my own vendors. She gives me great advice when I needed it, and she is so awesome. I am in the middle of writing up my reviews. Let me know if you have more questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
