  1. Yeah I totally agree I couldnt organise contacting all the vendors by myself! and the timings of everything! Â I just have to decide on flowers and sort out transport. Oh and the cake as we want to order one from an outside company. But all the important stuff is sorted. Â what are you doing after your ceremony?
  2. I havent been there but looking at the reviews on tripadvisor most people seem to think its ok, if you get a good deal and like you said treat it as a place to sleep in and not much more. Â Most of the reviews seem pretty good.
  3. My wedding dress shop told me to bring in the biggest hand luggage case you are allowed to bring on the plane, and they will pack it for us in that. They do it all the time so they know the best way to get it in without messing it up. Maybe ask yours?
  4. Im using a Paradise dream wedding and they have a ton of photo and video packages because the owner is a photographer. Â If you go on vrbo.com there are hundreds of condos to choose from, and lots of nice ones in Kihei. We are staying in the Maui Vista, its a 2 min walk to the beach and really good prices. and outdoor bbqs which will be good for when all our family and friends meet up in the evenings.
  5. Kimo is on here..  http://www.mauiminister.com/ministers/#kimo  We're having Hawaiian non-religious. The decision was sort of made for us as to who we had, because the combination of what we wanted and our location I think he was the only one as most of them only do south maui. But its not like we had a preference anyway so its fine.  how about you guys?
  6. Oh cool, Jo will be busy with both of us that week then! Who are you having to marry you? Were having Kimo.
  7. Yeah if we had a smaller group we would have done a beach too - but they said if you have over I think something like 20ish? people you should consider an estate as you cant put chairs on the beaches. And I figured as we're getting married in the afternoon it will be very hot. We have about 35 which isnt massive but will be nice for people to be able to sit on the veranda in the shade after the ceremony and enjoy the gardens. Congratulations too! What date are you getting married? We're the 19th.
  8. I've never even thought about it. We've lived together for 3 years already which for me is the most important thing.
  9. I am paying for them. Every bride Ive known has paid for her BMs dresses. And as we're having a destination wedding there is no way I can ask someone to first come to Hawaii and second pay for a dress on top of it. I need them to save their money for their plane ticket!
  10. I saw the thing about the insurance on the contract too, but when I asked my co-ordinator about it she said dont worry she takes care of that. So I dont know if maybe co-ordinators have their own insurance already. So thanks for posting that because I know that saved me a couple of hundred dollars now!
  11. We are having our ceremony at Olowalu but going to the Feast at Lele for our reception. We looked at doing a luau in the garden there for 35 ppl, but once you add on all the costs it was coming up to like $20,000! Way too pricey.
  12. Accomodation prices are most expensive from December to March.
  13. I am using them! but under their other name A Paradise Dream Wedding - we're getting married at Olowalu plantation house. I have Jo as my co-ordinator too, and am also getting married in April! We have a different photographer though - Ian. The reason we are using them is because my Aunt and Uncle got married on Maui, ten years ago, and had Gordon who is the owner as both their officiant and photographer. and their wedding went fine! x
  14. My wedding co-ordinator replies to me quickly. But the vendors... another story. We are having our reception at the feast at lele, and my dad has been emailing them, they take quite a while to do anything, but they do always do it in the end! Same as our caterer, can be quite slow to get back to me sometimes, but she has always followed through with what she says shes going to do, and my co-ordinator ensures me she is reliable and always uses her. So there definitely is that element of 'maui time' and it can be frustrating. I agree about a week sounds right. Unless its something to do with money or payment inwhich case I might chase them about it sooner.
  15. Hi, my name is Claire and Im from the UK. Im getting 'Maui'ed' in Hawaii in April 2011! So looking forward to finding more info on here! Most UK sites are full of info about getting married in Cyprus or Greece as they are the most popular destinations for weddings abroad, so its useful to find this one with lots of Maui info!
