ROR - average cost for guests with Flight from Canada??

Recommended Posts

Hello to all the beautiful past, present and future brides!

I am really wanting to have my Wedding at the ROR as I love the culture in Jamaica and want nothing more than to return for my wedding. I have worked with quite a few TA's who cannot get me pricing for March 2011 for flight.

We would really like to be able to tell people the cost of the trip with EVERYTHING included...taxes, air and accomodations.

I have read that some people can do this for a good price and we are looking to not spend more than $1600 -$1700 per person in order to meet the needs of our guest. Is this possible? I would just like to get a consensus of quotes from people who have been and what they paid. Mind you, we are planning for March which is a busy time and slightly more expensive. This reosrt has the best of everything for everyone that would be coming.

Do I let it go or keep trying until someone gives me a quote we are happy with? Help!

p.s I have also contacted the TA's on here and I am awaiting a response

Thanks in Advance!

p.p.s. I uploaded a profile pic and it dosent show up?

What time in March are you going? We are leaving Feb 25- March 4, married on the 1st!

These are the prices we have gotten from our TA, as they aren't available online yet. When they do get released online if they come in lower, ours will be lowered as well.

Edmonton $1995

Toronto $1827.25

Halifax $1938.95

These were pretty close to the price we were expecting to pay going into it....

Hope this helps!

Hi Mirelle Anne, my wedding is in November so I think my rates will be much different than yours for March. However, what I did want to mention is that if you or your guests are near the US border, close to a US airport, I highly recommend looking at that option. I'm in New Brunswick and looked at the cost of flying out of Bangor vs. Fredericton/Moncton and the price difference was $400! (even with exchange when it was .10 on the dollar) So for a couple it worked out to be $800.00 savings to fly out of a US airport.

It will be difficult for anyone to give you actual costs for flights/resort yet because it's too far in advance. Like I said my wedding is in November and I couldn't get definate numbers until January of this year.

However, back in Aug 2009 I asked my TA to give me the prices for Nov 2009 and used those numbers to budget for Nov 2010 - I knew that prices might change depending on econamics but my TA was fairly certain that it wouldn't change by much so those were the numbers we gave to our guests as a "rough estimate". Then, in Jan 2010 when the prices came out for Nov 2010 we found there was only a couple dollars difference so my guests were happy with that.

I wish you all the best, the year is going to go by so fast! (and some days, not fast enough! LOL)

Hi Mirelle Anne...

I just had my wedding at ROR...it was wonderful!! The price range for each of my guests (group rate) was a little over $1700. It was cheaper (under $1700 to leave on the friday or the Monday). If you have any questions about anything, packages, extra's, decor... let me know!!

Hi Mirelle Anne,

We had the same problem when we started contacting TAs...a bunch of them kept on telling us to contact them 10 months before the wedding and then they could help us.... So we kept on trying other TAs and finally we found one that was willing to contact the RIU and get pre-published prices. I don't see why all TAs can't do this. The two TAs who seemed a little more willing to help were Travel Counselors and Flight Center. We went with TC b/c they were quicker to respond.

As for pricing, we were quoted $1584 + $176 (taxes) for a double room with a garden view for our Toronto guests. I hope this helps :) Good luck with everything!

Thank you so much for your reply! I have just contacted Flight Centre so we will see what happens. That is a great price, the only difference is that it will be a little more expensive leaving from Winnipeg rather than Toronto and most of our guests will be leaving from Winnipeg. I know we can do it for around $1700 per person it's just a matter of finding the right travel agency. Thanks again for your help and info!

Hi Mirelle Anne...

Our wedding date is May 2011 and we are using the Sunquest Tour Operator. Our price is 1410 + 178 Tax(for travel out of Toronto). We recieved this quote over a month ago and put our deposits down in the beginning of April. A few of our guests live in BC and after doing some research we discovered it was cheaper for them to just fly into Toronto and then fly out with the remainder of the group! Hope this helps:)

Thank you so much for your reply. I wish we lived closer to Toronto because that is where the cost is really getting us because we have to fly out of Winnipeg. But today I figured everything out and I think we are pretty much ready to book! Thanks again for your reply and I wish you all the best with your planning!

Hi everyone who has suscribed or responded to this thread! I think I have finally found the answer to our problem. And I found the answer somewhere on this forum....

So..Sunquest has a lot of great deals and one of them is that if you book by August 30th of this year (2010) every 11th person travels FREE! I knew this awhile ago but because the cost was $1912.00 per person, James still did not like the price tag. So I found on here some people who were talking about the Sunquest deals and said that instead of them (bride and groom) or anyone else getting their trip free, they applied the cost of the two trips to everyone's account and they all got $130.00 off or it would have been more with more people.

We know we have at least 22 people booking meaning 2 free trips bringing everyone's total cost to just over $1700.00 which is the number James gave me to work with! YYAAAYYY so now we can book. I am so relieved. Although I am writing this from work and have yet to talk to him but I am sure he will be fine with it...I will posta final message confirming it but I think we are ready to get moving...

I could not have felt as encouraged and supported if it were not for the people on here so THANK YOU!!!

Mirelle

    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
