Concerns about the oil spill

My wedding is in 6 days on Seagrove Beach in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. My concerns are increasingly growing about the threat of oil being all over the beaches for my beach wedding! I just wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts on the subject or if anyone is dealing with the same problem.

I really don't want to change my location. I mean you can't have a beach wedding without the beach!!

The news is currently just talking about it spreading to Pensacola, FL, but our location is less than 80 miles down the beach from there and we have 6 days for it to get there.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts,

Amanda

sad.gif, I live on the Gulf Coast on the water and this Oil Spill saddens me more than anyone can know. All we can do right now is hope and pray that they can keep this from the coast line the best they can. I do know that Seagrove is in a area that they are still allowed to Fish in and in Pensacola area they are not as it is going to be the area that gets the spill first in Florida. They are saying that by Thursday we could expect to see oil in the Pensacola Area sad.gif, now they say this will just be Oil Sheen, but I am sure it will be noticeable and have a odor to it.

I can give you our local news info and paper so you can check the websites for what they are saying about it locally. It is just unbelievable to the residents here and we feel so helpless and the unknown is the scariest part sad.gif.

Good Luck to you and I wish you all the best!

Do you have a wedding Planner? I would chat with them if you do about a alternate site that maybe is on the bay or if you would need to move the location. If you dont I would call maybe a local resort or hotel to your wedding location that is on the beach and ask them how they are handling everything :)

I am in the same boat! We are getting married on the beach May 29th near Key West. All the talk right now is that the oil slick is going to be carried into the Keys and into all of South Florida in the next few days/weeks. I don't even know what to think. Our wedding is 3 weeks away! I want to call my wedding planner, but I don't even know what to say! It's not like she knows anything more than I do right now!

I've been thinking and praying for all of the couples getting married on the coast. My friend got married last weekend on the beach in Texas and was totally freaking out. Definitely call your WC, and keep in mind that you hired a pro photographer for a reason... they know how to use photoshop and see different angles and shots to keep ugliness out of your pics. Best wishes to all of you and just remember that all that really matters is that you are getting married to your FI adn things will work out. *hugs*

I forgot to mention that I am attending a wedding in Blue Mountain Beach, which is very close to you this weekend :), so far we have not heard anything that her beach ceremony will be mored, but my FI said they are being updated daily by their wedding planner as to any change to give the guest the heads up. I really hope that for both of you your wedding weekends will be wonderful :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
