Hi brides. I need to Bump this thread up. My wedding is this October and I need to change the location completely. US islands are different than the other islands where everything is all inclusive. I really need help selecting a venue that is not going to cost us much more than what we were going to spend in the Dominican Republic.  Our wedding size is 20.

I just got engaged and we decided on a destination wedding.  After careful thought PR was our decision...a place we would both like to visit, has beaches, warm weather, culture,etc....

But having never visited, I have NO idea where to begin.  We are really looking at having our ceremony at a venue, and a reception at a cozy, yet classy place in Old San Juan.

Any suggestions for places...even a jumping off point would be nice :)  This is all a bit overwhelming

We also just decided on PR. We were engaged there in October and I still have lots of family there. It so overwhelming because I would like something classy but relaxed and elegant but unpretentious. I have been leaning toward the Hacienda Siesta Alegre because the rates are fair, however once you start adding in vendors the price goes up substantially. I would love something that says Puerto Rico. If I want a beach wedding I can get married here in Miami but I truly want my guests to have an authentic experience. BTW i went to a wedding last year at San Juan Resort and Casino and the food was good, the wedding was nice. The bride also said she had a great planner, you may want to start there. It's just too hotel-y for me. Any suggestions??

Hopefully I can help a bit.  We are getting married there in October.  We wanted a true Old San Juan feel to the wedding, instead of a beach wedding that could be held anywhere else in the world. Because of that, we are getting married at one of the forts, San Cristobal and are having our reception at El Convento.  If you want to be married at a church, I'd look at Cathedral of San Juan Bautista.  Another ceremony location is El Morro.

Those should good starting points if you want an Old San Juan wedding :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
