We decided rather last minute whether or not we wanted to have it by the pool or restaurant. Ultimately with 65 people we decided the pool would be better, bc it's outdoors and the dance area is all in one place.

If you prefer a more intimate feeling, the restaurant is nice too. Happy to answer any questions about this. I've been meaning to post all of my hard work/findings related to our wedding, but just haven't had a chance!
Loved your photos! Amazing!

Hi All,

I'm currently in contract negotiations with Inise, but I'm not sure there is even ROOM for negotiation with this hotel. I was there a few days ago and FELL in love, BUT the requirement that at least 27 rooms be booked, totally scares me. Although I plan to have 80 guests, my cheapo family will def try to squeeze 4 to a room in as many rooms as possible, and since they only have 14 of the rooms priced between 120-150 a night and the rest, prices at $220 ( only two at this price)-350, I'm just not sure it can be done. For those of you who had more than 60 guests, what did you do?

LisaandDre, I have the same issue...we are inviting 115-120 and expecting 60, which might not fill all the rooms- and what if we only have 40? What I am doing is plotting out worst case scenario of the people we KNOW will come against the cost of 27 rooms for three nights, and factoring that in as a possible cost. Will probably mean we end up at Round Hill after all, although I would MUCH rather have a whole hotel booked out for the weekend!

Are you getting any flexibility from Inise?

I just responded to her contract today, but I'm doubtful. I think at the end of the day, Rockhouse doesn't need my business. Obviously, they'll only do the wedding if they can make a profit, and if they have enough business already, why would they bend over backwards for me? I know i'll have at least 60 people come, but like i said, my sisters and aunts will try to bunk together, so of the 60, many will be 4 to a room. You know? And when all of the cheap rooms are filled, I know some people will simply decline to attend, which bums me out. I'm looking Tensing Pen as an alternative. Catch a falling star is fantastic as well, but can only accomodate 60 guests. paying for the other rooms is just not an option for me...so who knows...sigh! Good luck to you!

Good luck to you too! Sorry Rockhouse isn't being easy. Sometimes the "book out the whole hotel" thing is more risk than it's worth. I LOVE Catcha Falling Star....why not do it there or Tensing Pen - there are enough resorts along the cliffs to catch your guest overflow, and they are all walking distance!

Catch a falling star can only accommodate 60 guests for the wedding itself. When I was there last Tuesday, I met the owner and she said, they could squeeze up to 65, but it would totally be tough. I'm still waiting to hear back from Shanique at Tensing Penn. If they have room for 80 guests to attend the wedding and dance, then I'm in!

We are getting married at Tensing and expect about 70 guests. They told me that was around the upper limit. Hopefully they could squeeze 10 more in for you! The main issue is having room to fit all the tables in the restaurant/deck area. They might be able to do 80 but then you would not have room for a dance floor. One option could be to use the whole restaurant/deck area for seating and then have room for people to dance around the pool which is below the restaurant area. You might also want to check out Negril Escape. They can fit large groups for weddings and are also on the cliffs. The Negril Escape Resort & Spa

I was at Negril Escape for a wedding two days ago. The hotel itself is a 2, maybe 3 star at best, no where near the caliber of catch a falling star or rockhouse, or tensing, so I wouldn't dare. I most definitely need a dance floor sad.gif...oh well, maybe rockhouse it is! I expect to hear from Inise at Rockhouse today. Hopefully she has some good news for me :).

You might want to check Villa Sur Mer as another option on the cliffs. You could also have your guests stay at Catch or Tensing and just have the wedding at Negril Escape. I'm pretty sure you don't need to stay at Escape as a guest to use the property for a wedding. All the "NO's" is why i chose against RockHouse. They were very unwilling to negotiate.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
