Resorts not replying in a timely manner

Has anyone else had a problem with resorts not replying to their inquiries?

I have put in MANY wedding request forms to many different resorts (Dreams PV, Azul Beach Hotel, El Dorade Seaside to name a few) and haven't heard anything in about a week when most of them say they will reply in 24-48 business hours.

I am a little hesitant to book with these people if they can't even respond to an inquiry in a timely manner.

Any advice or destination locations that are quick with correspondence?

Thank you, any info is greatly appreciated!

Hi! I'm getting married at Azul Beach in April. I can tell you that a lot of people have trouble getting resorts to respond to them directly. I'm using Destination Weddings Travel, and they took care of all the initial communications for me.

Now that the planning is underway, I work with the hotel's WC in Miami (who is TERRIBLE in my opinion). My WC aside, I've had a couple people do site visits for me who were in the area and they just raved and raved about the hotel staff and coordinators once you're down there. I think you just have to get through the state-side people first.

We hear this from many, many brides! January tends to be the busiest for requests and just like you there are thousands of potentila destination wedding brides that are shooting off emails for information to multiple resorts! Add to that the many requests for pricing and questions from the brides who are already booked and then the final planning for brides who are getting married within the next two months and you'll get a grasp of why it's taking so long to get a response!

The resorts do respond much faster to TA's that they are familiar with as they know that we have qualified the bride and advised them of the best resort for their needs and it is likely not a random request for information.

I know your excited but with a destination wedding patience is really the key!

the thing I've learnt with this for many is that the people who are replying to your emails are usually the ones who deal with the wedding on the day....so they are VERY busy! lots have rubbish reviews before you get there, but then rave about how great they were and the efforts they went to to try and make their day as perfect as possible.

My WC is slow at replying, but I've heard such great things about her that i don't mind - because when I'm there and need her the most, I know it will be me that she's focused on.

i know that's not great for you right now, but I'd say just keep doing what you're doing, but don't expect a response quickly...I'd give them 2 weeks to reply and then just send them a polite email to chase them up.

I have a read receipt on my emails and i know my WC replies as soon as she reads my email...and so I also know how long it can take her to get round to reading the.

i know this may not be the case in others, but this has definitely been my experience.

Just ride it out, you'll get there :)

This is one hard thing about having a DW. I remember waiting some time before getting my inquiries answered when I was looking at different resorts. Some resorts never even responded(10 months later)!

My WC is great and usually takes no more than a few days to respond. They're so busy and probably get so many emails. Once I chose my resort it was easier because I was given the WC's direct email.

I was just mentioning this to my TA - because they were supposed to send us our contract on Saturday and it still isn't here! She said everybody in Mexico & the Islands live by "island time" and just don't have the same sense or urgency that we do. And as TA Jennifer said, I'm sure they're super busy :)

This seems to be a common problem for a lot of dw brides. I've given up all hope on trying to converse w/ my wc prior to our arrival. I do agree w/ Kate, they're not always easy to deal with before you get there, but once you're there, they're great. Just be patient w/ them too, it's completely different from dealing with people from the US or Canada where we have a sense of urgency all the time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
