Help, please?! :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My name is Brendali, I just got engaged on December 4th to the man of my dreams. We have known all along we want a destination wedding!

This forum is full of amazing info, but my one concern as of thus has been PRICING!

I am in love with the Majestic Colonial, the Melia Caribe Tropical...and lastly the Gran Bahia...I have heard price wise, the Ocean Blue is not bad, but I wasnt blown away by it.

Did you guys find that any of these were reasonably priced? Did anyone get a group discount on any of these hotels? In summary, based on these hotels, how much did you ladies pay for your wedding, and how much did it come out to per guest?

I know this is a TON to ask, but I dont want people to not be able to come, even if they only do a 4 day, 3 night package. Thanks in advance again everyone! I REALLLLY need your help!

I was looking at both the majestic colonial and melia caribe as well. The Melia seemed to be on average around 1200-1300/pp and the Majestic colonial was about 1500/pp. They both look beautiful though, and I've heard good things about both. I did pick Ocean Blue though b/c of the great price and I've seen it in person and it looks awesome, though I do have to admit, if money wasn't an issue I would've pick Majestic Colonial. It just looks so beautiful, but I could'nt bring myself to ask my guests to pay so much for my wedding. I hope this all helps. Also if you're looking at the price range of Majestic colonial than you should take a look at the Paradisus. It's owned by the same company as the Melia, but it's really pretty too and I've read good reviews about it, and if you want adult only I've heard good things about Excellence. I've had two friends go there on vacation and both said it was an awesome place to go.

Oh yeah, One more thing to keep in mind is that I live in Ohio and where you live also makes a difference b/c of airfare prices.

Alison, thank you so much for responding! They both do seem a bit pricey for a week, I saw some not so bad prices actually on travelocity, expedia etc...way below the prices you mentioned. What time are you looking to fly there for? I am basing it on May prices, which is right after April, which is when prices drop...

I was basing it on this april's prices on applevacations.com. But if you saw Majestic Colonial for cheaper let me know where!! That would be wonderful if we could get a great price for our guests at such a beautiful place. Also, where are you flying out from b/c that does make a difference. Keep me posted and I'll let you know if anything new comes my way.

My suggestion would be to speak with different travel agencies regarding their policies. I chose Liberty Travel (they have offices everywhere but I did everything over the phone) because they honor ANY rate you find on the internet up until the day of your trip (for all of your guests of course) and all you need to do is print the details you found online that show your dates and the rates!

We are getting married in January and when we chose the Paradisus Palma Real last year, we were worried about rates which is why we chose a travel agent that honors any rate you find. I was checking rates all night and day, every day! I did find that on Saturdays at around 9am / 10am, the rates dropped a bit.

Long story short, the rates are still posted online for PPR at around $550/nt but as of now, my guests are booked at $369/nt!!!

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
