Recommended Posts

woohoo!!! we leave on Saturday.... NOW I'm getting excited. get married in 9 more days!!!

I think pretty much what needs to be done is done but there really isn't anything to do!

the big news is we got the video guy!! the one that did Tekeya's. it was just too irresistible and with having nobody there except Chandlyn and Donnalee I wanted something special. he's very reasonable and has been working with me the last few days so I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. believe it or not, we're doing engagement pics this Friday. the day before we leave!!! can't wait.

my dress bombed. not at all happy. they didn't do it properly so now I have to go back on Wednesday again. I've heard this about David's Bridal so Wednesday had better be a happy day... or you will hear me hollerin... wherever you are!!!

oh yeah - and belated Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian ladies here. we spent it in the US so no turkey except at Perkins restaurant. lol

Anyhoo, I wrote out both myself. I had the person making all our stationary do a quick cute program.

For the seating chart (35 people) I just wrote it out for Chandlyn. We had a head table and two tables in front of ours so it was quite easy.

Thanks Cupcake!

I will get the local printer to wack out some programs and will draw out a seating chart for Chandlyn. We have 90+ guests and the whole planning meeting we had on Sunday was complete chaos! I think we have finally sorted things now though- phew!

Thanks againcheesy.gif

Oh congrats hun! You must be so excited!

I am in the same boat on the things to do front. I feel like everything is done bar the programs and seating plan diagram. I feel so anxious as I expected to be crazy frantic on the organising front lol.

Fab news on the videographer front- such a nice thing to have a beautiful, moving memoty of your big day. I am still trying to convince hubby to be to splash out on a videographer- wish me luck! Wow the engagement pics sound fab. Wish we did more stuff like this in the UK. I might just start the trend!

What happened with your dress hun? Every time I see mine and try it on it looks like a different dress! Still not 100% used to it but I love it all the same. Had a major argument with the alteration lady last weekend as she said it needed no alterations. I walked towards her and the dress started slipping down, revealing my whole bra- classy huh? Needless to say she then agreed to take it in some on the boob area *blush*

All the best with the big day! I am sure you will have a fantastic day x

HI PoshAms,

The resort does have an order of service that they use and will stick to it unless you tell them differently.  Here is their order of service:

Order of ceremony

Processional

Welcome

Declaration Of Intent

Exchange of Vows

Exchange of rings

Blessing

Pronouncement

Signing of documents

Champagne toast

Photo session

I worked with my own personal minister who officiated the ceremony and changed it around and gave a copy to Chandlyn prior to the wedding day for the Jamaican minister.  He still goofed up ;-)  but it wasn't too noticeable, we only had to whisper to him that he forgot to do the sand ceremony.  I actually found this lady who did the layered programs really reasonable.  Here's a proof of them.  The only thing the resort printed for us is the menu.  I attached how my programs looked (except the ribbon was more tangerine).  They were attached to raffia fans and both were attached to the back of the seats (under the chair sashes)

Just 3 weeks until we leave now for the big day- excited beyond words!

I have a little question- for those of you that had an order of service/order of the day did you have those printed and take them with you? Or did the resort assist you? Same for the seating plan. I was thinking of doing them next week and having them all printed but wondered if the resort did any of this for you?

Thanks in advance

Amina

Totally agree, definitely do a seating chart.  I did a free site on "theknot.com" and it comes with seating chart software that I printed out and gave to Chandlyn.  It made things a LOT smoother.

thanks Tekeya. I'm really excited to be working with him. I spent almost a hour with him over the phone just because we are so tight on time and he was soooo sweet. he's setting ours up as a story and wants to "interview" us before the wedding about how we met, etc mostly because I told him we're older and have grown children and grandchildren. but I'm really looking forward to what he puts together. and I hope maybe we'll have a sneak peak for our AHR on Nov 5th.

we have Merrick Cousley for our photography and he's another one that, given everything we've been through, has just been a saint to work with. many others would have given up on us by now but he hung in there and encouraged us and stood by us.

right now I just want to GO!!!  the wedding is extra fluff now even though I'm excited about it. I want to get to Jamaica and get onto the beach and have the sun and the sand, then the wedding lol  I'm not sure the wedding part has even sunk in yet!!!!! maybe like you said it will on the way to the airport lol

Thanks Val. the support from everyone on this site has been a help. it's hard when you get so down about things when it looks like nothing will work out. now we're 3 days from leaving and 8 days til the wedding!!  woohoo!!!

and you better believe I will report here. after everything I've seen on this forum since January.... absolutely I want the chance to "add my 2 cents"  lol  my one big worry is that Donnalee who will be the acting "best man" does something that pisses off hubby to be  lmao  but I've made him understand that he absolutely needs to keep her around to sign the licence so he can't say too much to her lol  keep fingers crossed and I've already put him in charge of the sand ceremony, NOT Donnalee lol

AWESOME~~~

I am totally happy for you and everyone else getting married in the next few months.  It's an excellent feeling and everyone is still talking about it.

FYI...on your way to the resort, make sure you stop at this popular jerk house, I will see if I can get the name of it.  It has the BEST jerk!!!  Everyone on the island knows the name of it, and it's on your way, on the left...pretty nice size building (I think it was a red color).  The jerk on the resort is Okay, but it's not like the jerk that is off the resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
