Mayan Palace Brides- Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Amy,

Sorry I haven't been keeping with this threat. I have been super busy with work, school and planning the wedding.

I will post my pics as soon as I have everything ready, I'm still working on the place cards, menus and programs.

I know the Mayan is making our cake, it's going to be small and not sure how much is going to cost yet.

As for the cake I can understand your frustration. I would speak to the mayan and send them the emails tha marco sent you. I never had to work with the mayan, we have heard from others that they are difficult to work with as well. We are only working with them thru prisar, and prisar has been great.

Isn't marco working at the mayan in nuevo vallarta? or is he not working at the mayan at all?

i really hope everything works out for you amy. let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Alreager, how did you hurt your fingers? I'm curious? I'm planning on dancing a lot and I do not want to get hurt.

She is new and welling to work with you but stand your ground and show her the email Marco sent you. I had some other things that she said I couldn't do but then I showed her the emails that Marco sent and she did as I asked.

Come prepared to stand your ground with her. Email her the emails Marco sent you. I did that.

Sorry I haven't been helping so much...been really busy since our wedding...I have had two finger surgeries...be careful dancing on your wedding day or you'll end up like me.
Thanks Amy. I have not had any contact with any of the new WC's since Marco left. We hired Priscilla soon after. I am going to fight for it. It is clearly stated. Do you have Nayley's email? I am going to contact her and CC my WC too.

On a side note, what kind of dance were you doing when you broke your finger?? Poor you! Feel better!

Thanks! I can't wait to see what you have planned! As for Marco, last I heard he was actually in Cabo working for the Mayan out there. He actually asked if I could refer other brides to him (I'm assuming via the forum) however, I asked him for more info and pics and I would be happy to post. My experiance working with him was great. He was very quick to respond and very sweet. However he never replied to my email so I never posted a thread.

She received my email. She said she would respond but hasn't. She did admit that she's been pretty busy with weddings though.

Hi all! While I was originally planning on having my reception at Casa Las Palapas in Nuevo Vallarta, it's now looking more like Mayan Palace PV just because of the number of guests anticipated. I had peeked in on a wedding my WC (Prisar) did there back in February (someone on this forum, I think) and it was beautiful, so I'm not too disappointed. I'm waiting for Priscilla to get back to me with prices, but the anticipation is killing me! I saw in a previous post something about a $2000 site fee...is that still the going rate? What does that include? Is catering a whole separate thing? Just hoping I could get some answers from you ladies before Priscilla gets back to me...I feel like the clock is ticking!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lisa,

that could have been my post, and most likely the prices have changed (those were 2007 prices). The site fee only includes the site location (beach, jetty, sunset bar, dance floor, lighting) and set up (tables, chairs, linens, glassware, etc). The rate is dependent on the number of guests. In addition to that there is a corkage fee/ or open bar option. And a 3 or 4 course menu or buffet. Cake is not included. I booked the Mayan with out Prisar, but I've heard she's great at negotiating. So I'm sure you can give her a budget and she can get you a good deal.

Hi Lisa
as Amy mentioned the fee has changed in my case the fee we paid was $2500 and the catering is separate as well as the corking fee, but dont worry you are in good hands with Prisar. Did you saw the Mayan at your site visit? You are going to love it!!!

Hello Ladies,

What is the deal with Nikki Beach?

My fiance and i just got back from Mexico and we absolutely loved the Mayan. The only problem is that Nikki Beach is right next door. One Saturday night, we stopped by to see a wedding there and we were horrified....you could hear Nikki Beach's loud techno music clearly on the jetty and pretty clearly at the bar and at the beach. We were devastated! We did not actually see the ceremony, so I don't know if the music was turned down for that, but it was loud and and it was bumping during the photo/cocktail hour. I have a feeling that the music was not turned down, because at the same time that the Mayan couple was having their cocktail hour, another couple was in the middle of their ceremony at the Westin (where Nikki Beach is located) and the music was not turned down at all.

For those of you who have gotten married there - is Nikki Beach music always soooo loud that you can clearly hear it at the Mayan? We were there during Cinco de Mayo Weekend, so I know that hotels were much busier than normal, but I'm concerned that Nikki Beach has their music up every weekend.

Any info would be great.

Btw, word of caution to anyone considering the Westin. Not only is Nikki Beach within 100 feet of the wedding area, but the WC is a total flake. The pergolas were suppose to be closed to the public at 7pm. When we came at 8:30, there were still lots of people laying out in the ones that had not been bought out, but there was a bikini-clad couple making out one to two pergolas over from the wedding pergolas. Sooo tacky! And the WC did not say a word. Even tackier.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
