Quick comment/question about hair and makeup. Who are you guys having do it that charges $350...the resort or an outside vendor? I hired Fernando Fuentes who owns the Makeup Pros and that is what he charges but he is completely amazing and in my opinion, totally worth the money. Great professional makeup looks so much better in pictures and that's what you'll be left with after the wedding. Well, besides a husband ;-) I think it's a great splurge if you can afford it!!!

Those are pretty much the exact concessions that are included and yes, they are specifically written into the contract. We're hoping that we get at least 25 rooms so that we can use the free room for our photographer. Also, Luis said that all of your guests will count toward your block, regardless of how they book. So if 10 book through the resort, 5 through TA Jill and 5 through expedia...you'll still get credit for 25 rooms booked.

Is this true? I asked my TA about perks that could get at HTR and she there none. Also I am very confused on if I just go with pricing she gave me or if I can get better pricing through the hotel.

Can someone help me out!!

Sorry I was trying to Quote "Becks" I really need to learn how to do this!!

The part that I'm still not sure on and is different in everyone's contracts is Rooms or room nights. Ex: one person could stay for 5 nights which would = 5 rooms... This might help the ones with smaller attendance at their wedding...but I think some contracts are stating ROOMs not room nights

Have any of you heard what type of appetizers/hors d'œuvres they offer during the cocktail hour?

Hinna,

When we visited the resort and Luis was talking to us about signing a group booking contract directly with the resort, he said the same thing...that it wouldn't matter how guests booked. We had previously been working through TA Jill and she's been so helpful throughout this whole process that we preferred to use her for our group contract. The resort said that this was fine but at the last minute they put an extra clause in our contract which stated that any guest who did not book though Jill's contract would be charged the FULL menu price (ie $60 plus bar cost) for private events. We were obviously upset but thankfully Jill was able to negotiate and get this taken out of our contract. We signed yesterday :-)

I think that there is definitely peace of mind that you get by using a great TA but just keep this in mind before you sign a contract with the resort. Our TA had no problem getting the same perks for us that we would have gotten going directly through H3R. Also, our contract says rooms, not room nights.

As for appetizers...Allibe told us that Oscar would put together a selection for us and that we could either have them sitting out or passed. It doesn't seem like the have a set appetizer menu that you select from. You can also do a signature cocktail if you would like and there is open bar at the cocktail hour as well. They also serve all of your guests a glass of champagne when there ceremony is over.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
