Any suggestions on travel arrangements to Cabos?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

We are working on booking our wedding at the Dreams in Cabos. We have about 30 people going, and we were hoping to get a group deal. We got a quote from the travel agent we have been working with, and it wasn't any cheaper than what we could find ourselves on one of the travel sites. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

Thank you!

Our family members used Tammy to book our stays. Besides having her own business, she also works with Vacationsforless.com.

They usually have pretty good deals.

We booked our own flights and most of the friends either booked their trip via Hotwire.com, orbitz.com, or another discount website.

Farecompare.com is a great site to see how much flights are if planning on booking directly through airline.

My only concern is booking early enough. Recently our wedding weekend (Oct 28th) was sold out (Thurs/Friday) and it's only June!.. so if your guests aren't early planners, you'll want to look into a room block. Tammy can help you with that. She has such a great relationship with the coordinators at Dreams.

angela is right...dreams cabo books VERY early...so if you guests are not planners you should get a group block.

cons of a group block:

  • the hotel sometimes has sales so the rates can be very cheap (but usually for a limited time).

  • you need to put a deposit down to hold the room

  • penalties if you do not book most of the rooms or release your rooms on times.

pros of a room block:

  • set rate for the room for your guests...

  • rooms are set aside for your guests so even if the hotel sells out (happens ALOT!) your guests will still be able to stay with you

  • VIP treatment at the resort

  • free site visit

Hey Tammy...when you say a pro to having a room block is a free site visit...what does that entale? I mean we are staying at Dreams but we aren't getting married there so we probably wouldn't be able to get a free site visit?? If I can get this for free I am definately coming down for one!! We are planning on having our welcome dinner at dreams though!!

Megan,

Have you tried contacting the hotel directly? I did that and they quoted me $220 per person but Tammy (host) posted something about $370 per room in 2008. I have emailed her and pm her and I haven't heard yet...but I'm checking out everything...all I know is that from the dreams site directly, it's expensive!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
