No planning until arrival?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, are any brides not doing any planning until they arrive at the resort?

I chose a DW so that I wouldn't have to plan and think about anything but the more I go through this forum, the more I feel I have to think about! This isn't a bad thing, but is there anyone who's just booked the wedding, travel and left everything else until your arrival?

I'm feeling like I'm not going to bring centrepieces, sashes, music or anything. Am I setting myself up for disappointment? (Or exponential costs?) It's going to be so beautiful naturally there anyway!

What are your thoughts?

You're not alone!

I didn't have any centerpieces, did not plan to make special bows for chairs, or any other detail... We just got a wedding package from the resort, chose our meal, cake, flowers and that's it. We brought down some paper lanterns for the reception, but didn't do anything other than that. I wanted a DW in order to minimize planning and just enjoy myself, and there is nothing wrong with keeping it simple! All we needed was the beach, our family/friends and a great day, which worked out beautifully!

Good luck :-)

We didn't bring centerpieces, decorations or anything like that either. We did the same thing as Chanti, we just picked a wedding package and made the decisions on cake, menu, flowers, etc once we got to the resort. It is definitely one of the perks to having a DW! The only thing we did was make OOT bags for all of our guests. That was actually a fun project which I really enjoyed doing.

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I am really on the same page as you. There are a few things that I am going to outline that I want in writing with the WC but other than that, I am leaving the rest until i get there. Things I am going to confirm is the location of the wedding, i want a gazebo not the beach. As well as where i want the reception. I am not stressing over linens, centerpieces, etc either. I am bringing my own IPOD for music. As less stressful as I can make this, and the cheapest!

You looked beautiful btw! Congrats.

I was thinking about paper lanterns too, did they work out ok for you?

Ok good! I had my WC confirm the time, date and location as well. I really wanted the gazebo too! I don't think I'm going to worry about the other extras and decor. I booked the Ultimate package so it includes pretty much everything anyway! Photographer and Videographer even. Hopefully there won't be too many added costs! Like you, I want to be stress-less and cheap!

Good luck to you!

There's lots of us that didnt lift a finger for our weddings! The only thing I did before hand was book my reception dinner time with the resort and I ordered fake flowers. I didnt bring anything with me and I didnt give guests OOT bags or favours. We had the free package with our resort and didnt need to upgrade. The only thing I wish I would have done was bring my own photographer, but hey, live and learn! Good luck planning -- or not! cheers.gif

Thanks for the compliments :-) I loved our lanterns, although it was a bit of a hassle to transport them there, assemble them for the reception and then take them apart again to bring back here. But now they're in our family room in the basement, a nice reminder of our special day :-) PM me if you want the link for the website where I bought them.

Thanks Kayte. I don't think I'm doing OOT bags either (I'm trying to budget!). I guess I should contact the resort about what time to have my dinner? I am booked for a 3pm ceremony. I was going to go for the free wedding too but then I went all out and booked the highest package. My fiance wanted a video and I wanted the music trio, and we both figured we needed a photographer! With that, I'm hoping there's nothing else I need to do or pay for!

Thanks for the comforting response! I looked through your review btw and everything looked perfect! Mine is going to be a small wedding too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
