Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I had the same initial concern but I check my account regularly and know that if for some reason I were to see any crazy charges, I would challenge them via AMEX.

I am not sure what type of credit card you plan on using but I did get a surprise of a Foreign Exchange Fee.

Has anyone else run into this as well?

It has all the information on the card.  I really want to book my date but I am so uneasy about this part. I am also considering a site check, just so I can see the resort before we make our final decision. I know it's what we want to do but I spent hours yesterday reading this thread and I am so nervous about all the decorations, etc. that I may need to bring down with us. When I first thought about a destination wedding I just assumed that decorations were included!

Okay Ladies,

I am getting married May 6, 2011  (yes in 4 weeks) at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa - I am soooo behind the times. My maid of honor was recently diagnoised with breast cancer, going through Chemo and a double masectomany and we are in the process of moving and things have been soooooo stressful, I have completely put this wedding planning on the back burner.

Can you anyone who has had their wedding at Dreams please give me an idea of what I should bring as far as decorations, etc... We are expecting about 40 guest - I am going to order chair sashes today , but other than that I have no idea what I should bring.

Any suggestions as to what anyone did for gift bags and decoration. Also, I want to order wedding programs and rehersal dinner invitations  - Were you able to find out which resturant you would be using before you arrived in Mexico?

I am flipping out!!!!!!!!

OH BOY, we leave in 4 weeks!! HELP!!! The officiant, I've heard the english is so broken and it's hard to understand him. I've spent 4 hours creating our beautiful ceremony script and I would feel very sad if my guests don't understand what he is saying and they laugh the whole time at his broken english. Is this what you ladies are hearing too?

OOT Bags - Each guest will receive one!!!

Beach Tote Bag (personalized with their name)

Beach Towel (aqua blue for guys/ fuchsia pink for girls--our wedding colors)

Waterproof Camera

2 travel size bug repellent lotions

1 each travel size advil/pepto

Itinerary Pamphlet

Oh yea, I was charged an additional $15 for my $500 deposit. Not bad, but I wasn't expecting it...although i should have, since I'm pretty sure I read another bride mention it on here (I just forgot). I was so excited I didn't care though : ) I wonder if there's a way to get around this fee when you travel there though (for the wedding), since I'd rather charge than pay cash for anything (paper trail).

Thank you..that would be great!

We are doing our own Centerpieces...I found old glass bottles (in the color purple - one of our wedding colors) and we are putting three on each table with a floral light in them - and clear crystal rocks scatterd..simple.  I'm kind of going with "A Message In A Bottle" theme - our "name cards" will be littles messages in a bottle..hence the bottles as center pieces.  Then the table numbers are gonna look as if they were old "messages in a bottle"!

If you want pics let me know - I can give you more detail!!

I haven't bought the fabric for the gazebo yet b/c I am still deciding on the fabric, silk or organza not sure.  I believe Veronica sent me the measurements for the gazebo, I will look for it and send it to you.

Are you going to have centerpieces?

We did our OOT bags for each room but had enough goodies in each bag for each person.  My sister's family had her and her husband and their 2 kids so we just put things for all of them in one bag.  The night before the wedding we handed the bags out to everyone at dinner rather than having them delivered to the rooms.  That worked out perfectly.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
