Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! This is my first post - I just got done reading this whole thread and I'm so thankful to have found this site. All your information is so helpful. I emailed Ana earlier today and the date I wanted only is available for 11am so I'm currently waiting for her to reply with other dates/time availabilities.

I'm so excited! I can't wait to reserve a date.

So can I ask, any thought to photographer or dj/music yet? I am wondering if I should be getting those booked already. Also, do you think you will have reception on the beach or wedding gazebo? I can't decide until I at least see a picture of the gazebo.

And yes Noonie, Rod on facebook has been a wealth of information. So far I am very impressed with the customer service there. I can't wait until it actually opens and we can get some real feedback!
Hi Carina,
I have not booked a photographer yet. I am so unsure what to do about that. I contacted a couple of photographers - one was not available and the other I think was a little more than I was hoping to spend since he comes for 2 days. Are you going to use the photographer from Dreams? Do you know of any photographers? I have been trying to ask Ana how much extra it would be to have the photographer for longer than the 1 1/2 hours that comes with the package and how much extra it is for each additional picture, but I haven't gotten an answer to that question yet (maybe she doesn't understand what I'm asking?) I really want to make sure I have great pictures! As far as the music, I think that I am going to do the ipod. It seems like, from what I've been reading, that dj's can be hit or miss in mexico and since I am not having a huge amount of people, I think the ipod will be good! I would also like to see pictures of the gazebo before I decide about the ceremony, although I am leaning towards the beach since I have always wanted to get married on the beach :) I am kind of clueless on a timeline of when things should be done!

Hey girls I have some great news. My w.c. said that a friend of hers just did a site visit at a resort close to dreams. And she took a look at the new dreams. She said it was great. The rooms were wonderful. And even talked to the chef and really liked him alot. Just thought I would let you girls know.

Also Monday I am booking 10 rooms with the resort. In the beginning my t.a said I was going to get some promotions for booking this many rooms. Now I am not really getting a answer from her. Anybody booked and got some promo's?? If so let me know what you have heard.

Another thing how many days are your guest staying. I have to decide on if I want to pick 3 nights or 4 and I just dont know which one to do??

Megan, we are doing a group rate and currently they are holding 20 rooms for us, but our guests have until Sept. 29th to book their rooms by paying a deposit. Are your rooms booked or on hold? And if they are booked, how did you handle it? Did you pay the deposit to book them or are your guests? If your guests are, do they have a certain time frame to pay? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a little worried that my guests only have until the 29th for the group room rate...which I think is a pretty good deal. We are quoted $492 ($4 more than your room rate) for 3nts/double occupancy in a dlx tropical garden view.

I also talked to my t.a. today and she is going to get additional pricing for 4nts for those that want to stay longer and also in other room categories. I should have pricing on this on Monday.

If anyone else has prices they can share and how you are going about securing rooms, I would appreciate it.

Rachelle, if you have photos of the lounge furniture. I would be interested in seeing them. Can you post them or send them to me in a PM? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
