Thanks so much for answering everyone! I do plan on getting my makeup done now...although not too sure about my hair. Sometimes I like it better when I do it myself! I went shopping today but didn't find anything I loved or felt like I had to have so I am going to rummage through my closet and see what I can find tonight and if nothing pops out, I'll go shopping again tomorrow!!!

I recommend wearing what you think makes you look the hottest! :) I've heard that it's best to stay away from white (save it for the wedding!) plus it can be harder to photograph depending on your location. I did not get my hair or make-up professionally done (I never like what they do even when I give specific instructions) and I thought ours turned out pretty well. We chose to do more "fashion style" engagement pictures so we wore outfits that matched that style. If you are going for a more traditional look then classic clothes will look the best. If you are going for fun and easy going then wear a more casual outfit.

While I think that getting your hair and makeup done is always lots of fun, I would also suggest that you not step too much outside of your box or comfort zone and keep in natural. rolleyes.gif

I love looking at engagement pics of the couple in somewhat natural environment, then see their wedding pics with them all dolled and spiffed (word?) up wink.gif It doesn't mean you don't look fabulous in your engagement pics, but certainly don't feel like you have to get a pro to make you look good. Engagement pics should focus on the love between you and your FI and that connection will create a beauty of its own, trust me cheesy.gif

Now if you've got money to burn and are determined to have a pro style you -- then go for it!! Just give yourself some time in between your "makeover" and your photo shoot in case you don't like the look they've given you -- this will give you time to change/fix things if need be.

Other than that, find out how many outfit changes your photog allows. And make sure your outfits compliment each other color and stylewise. In our case, we started off with a stylish/dressy set. Then changed into more casual wear (I put on a summer dress) and went to a different venue, lastly we ended up with our college sweaters on for some fun pics. All the while, we made sure we were wearing things that complimented each other and didn't clash.

Hope that helps!! can't wait to see how your pics turn out smile03.gif

I usually tell the bride "Dress the way you would on a first date." It's usually a good rule of thumb for E-Sessions, since it is pretty representative of your personalities. Would you wear jeans? A cute skirt? Etc. Try to stray away from unless you guys are shooting as the sun is going down. If the sun will be overhead, white is one of the worst things you can wear.

Other than, that, it's hard to say without knowing what your style of photographer is. If it is going to be a playful shoot...I recommend bringing some fun props. Balloons and parasols have been pretty popular lately. Photographer's love to play. If you guys come all dressed up and ready to have fun...your photog will be STOKED. :)

Have fun!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
