Island Time

Recommended Posts

The first time I went to Jamaica it was an adjustment getting used to their relaxed atmosphere, but once I did I loved it! It felt like a real vacation. But I think my parents will have a hard time, they are always EARLY for everything!!!!

The Rock House looks amazing. One of my friends brothers got married there and they absolutely LOVED it! Only downside is that they don't allow kids under 12 - we were looking at the Rock House but this was a deal breaker for us sad.gif

So true - it does feel so much more like a vacation when you can lounge and not be rushed! I have memories of going on vacation when my brother and I were much younger, but my brother actually fell asleep with his head on the table because it took so long for our dinner to arrive at a restaurant in St. Marteen, lol. Definitely different than eating at restaurants here in Chicago when the wait staff is trying to turn the tables around as quickly as they can.

LOL! I am from NY but my relatives are Jamaican, and we always joke about "CPT" carribean people time because the whole carribean is on island time! So we would tell them 5:00 EST/4:30 CPT... The phrase is "me soon come" meaning I will get there when I get there and thats perfectly okay down there, but my neurotic NY guests will have a hard time coping with this! Something about NY/Long Island makes people psycho and impatient if they have to wait, they want everything right here and right now. If you are saying the Mexicans are the same that will be hilarious! Even going to the midwest or California with NY-ers is an adjustment so it will be interesting to see how they cope with Mexico time, lol!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
