My cat has to go to the vet

Recommended Posts

I always get worried when I take my little bugger to the vet. At one year he developed a heart murmur (Sp?). Next he was vomitting all of the time (favorite brand was IAMS- hello, recall!) now he is peeing everywhere! I clean his litter, he uses it then goes out and pees on FI's work boots! WTF!!! It happens at least once a day for the past 2 weeks. He goes in at 1:45 today to get checked. Mike says we'll put him down. I tell Mike I'll put him down before I put Calvin (cat) downsmile67.gifgirl_werewolf.gif

Just had to vent ladies...I deal with thing better if I have a chance to release quickly. Thanks for letting me bitch!blush2.gif

You know....I'm a very tolerant person.Hell I do live with Mike!!! But I have no patience for a vet who really doesn't care about my pet and is apparently only interested in having me buy product. I have to say that it pisses me off to no end. censored.gif The stupid vet took Calvin and tried to collect a urine sample. I told him that he peed just before we left the house. Didn't listen to me. Calvin is a VERY weary cat. He SCREAMS if he's unsure about people or a situation he's in. It sounds like we're beating him when we have to take him out of the house. Anyway, the vet takes him away from me and this sets off the screaming. It then proceeds to upset everyone and every animal in the clinic. I go to the vet and ask him if I can help to settle him down and he says that I would "only set him off more". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! It's my jacket that he was trying to get inside of to hide from the vet in the first place. After failing to produce a urine sample (do you think!!!) , the vet then wanted me to leave him there with them until Calvin urinated . He then started to spout out the cost of leaving him there. I told him to go to hell and we walked out of there with a traumatized cat. He won't even go near the door now because he's afraid that we may be taking him outside. The poor baby. I feel like a schmuk for taking him to a place like that. Think it's time to interview a new vet. Sorry ladies but I'm so pissed right now. I wanted to punch him out. Thanks for letting me vent.

Same thing happened w/ my kitty. He's had 3 emergencies in the last 2 years. That was the first- our clinic vet told us he was going to need a very expensive, emasculating surgery so we rushed him to the ER/ OR vet here in brooklyn and the very nice, calm, talented vet got him better without surgery (though it cost us over $1k). He was also put on a special diet, and was all better.

Then the clinic vet told me he probably had cancer. I cried for 3 days. It turned out to be a bug bite.

Then he had an asthma attack. The clinic vet told me he couldn't hear his heartbeat and he was suffering a cardiac episode. The ER vets stabilized him with o2 therapy and sent him home the next day. (again, $1200 bill).

So I can relate. Find a good vet for your kitty asap. I am going to someone else now. I think this vet may actually like catscat.gif

Poor Calvin, have you found a new vet yethuh.gif? I am so happy with ours, but my parents use to take our dogs there many many years ago, and I have used the same office for all my animals. the original vet has since retired but the one that bought it has worked for the original vet for years and she is great. It so important to find someone that you trust and is good with the animals

We lucked out with our vet. We needed to get Boots (Little one on the right in my avatar) spayed, so we just took her to the animal hospital down the street and they did an amazing job. We never actually saw the vet the day of her surgery, we just left her with the girls at the front desk. The day we went back to get her stitches out we actually met her vet and he was a sweetheart, telling us that we had an adorable little girl and was petting her and made her feel very comfortable while he took her stitches out and even let me hold her while he was removing them :) So it's a fluke that we have such a good vet, but it's a great feeling knowing that we do and that we have someone we can trust with our girls

Oh, and our oldest cat, Shadow (on the left) actually had a big problem with vomiting too. We took her off IAMS and now she just coughs up hairballs once every blue moon

Have you taken Calvin to a new vet yet? It sounds like he has either a uti, bladder infection or possibly bladder stones. My cat had stones and had to have surgery, but now he has a special food and we've had no problems since.

Be very careful with a male cat and bladder problems. They can become blocked and die in a very short time period. Its very serious.

Let us know what happens!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
