Hurricane Season in Cancun...

Recommended Posts

Sept is definitely peak hurricaine season in Cancun. My original date was Sept 19 and we wound up changing it bc of hurricaine season. However, I have also heard about people having great weather in Sept. If your venue has a nice inside spot as a backup then go for it. One thing in life you can.t predict is the weather. If you are the type of person who is laid back and can role with the punches than I wouldn.t sweat your date but if you are like me whp gets flustered and wound up easily then I would rethink either your date or your location.

As far as getting married on a holiday weekend.. it may not be the most considerate choice since many people like to plan their own special getaways. Also travel prices are usually much higher. However, if you know your guests would appreciate the extra paid day to go to your wedding then that would be a good choice.

Good luck deciding! Remember, your wedding will be great no matter where or when, rain or shine - it's your day!

I was married on August 9 last year, and the weather was spectacular!

If your heart is set on September 4, and Cancun, I say go for it! Yes, there's a risk of bad weather, there's also a pretty good chance it will be beautiful. I just checked weather underground (Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground) and here's what September 4 looked like for the past 5 years:

2008 - high 89, low 75, 2.45 inches of rain

2007 - high 86, low 73, 0.15 inches of rain

2006 - high 93, low 77, no rain

2005 - high 95, low 73, no rain

2004 - high 91, low 75, no rain

So, in 5 years, there was really only one day with any significant rain. If you love it, do it.

We were in Cancun from September 8-18, 2009. It was such a great time and we had beautiful weather. It did rain hard in the middle of the night the last night we were there, but that was no big deal. On the day of our wedding, Sept 11, it clouded over and rained out over the ocean but not on land. We had the wedding at 5pm and the clouds had cooled everything down a touch so it wasn't so hot. Plus the clouds made for some really awesome pictures. I could not have asked for a better day! So my advice is to plan your wedding whenever you want and don't worry about the weather!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
