Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

We are getting married in November 2015 and having reception in the Palapa , can't wait and glad to hear your wedding went great!!

Good choice, it is beautiful.

If you click in my planning thread below in my signature I posted some pictures on the second last page.  Also a link to all of them on Facebook.  I used Perla who is apart of Adventure Photos who is the resort photographer. I am super happy I used her.     I will post my review soon!!

Thank you!

I will put this in my review, but this is the only thing I say to be aware of....

The WC does your final bill and sends you upstairs to the lobby to pay for it. This bill DOES NOT have your $500 deposit as a deduction on it. Apparently it is supposed to be on your account as a credit.  Well I went up to pay and had totally forgot about it. When I was about to swipe my card it dawned on me and I asked and no it was not on there!!!! So I didn't pay and went back to the weddings office. It was rectified immediately but if I hadn't had thought to ask I wouldn't have gotten that back!   Just a heads up!

I also recommend to always check your bill thoroughly before paying.  Due to people with very similar names we got charged for others wifi, they took it off when we complained, but just be sure you are paying for your own stuff.

Hey girls. I have a few questions for the brides who have already been down to the GS:

1. Is it practical to do the ceremony in bare feet on the beach (my ceremony is scheduled for 4pm in the afternoon)

2. Has anyone used their own music to walk down the aisle with? I want to use a Bose cordless speaker for my music, just wondering if it is feasible (sound quality etc)

3. How was the DJ? Does he take requests or does he do his own thing? My FI and I really like country music and am worried there won't be much of it. I plan to bring an iPod full of my own music in case the DJ thing doesn't work out.

4. Did everyone bring their own chair sashes or do they have some there to pick from (other than their standard blue). That also goes for the 'fabrics of the gazebo'.

5. Did anyone rent the Chinese paper balls for the reception in the Palapa, and if so do you have any pictures of what they look like?

I think that is it for now, thanks for all your help!

Welcome!

I got married last week at the Grand Sirenis, it's such a bummer to be home!

The wedding was fantastic and more than I could have ever dreamed up in my mind.  You are in good hands, I know sometimes it doesn't feel like it as email responses can take awhile but it's because they give the brides at the resort a lot of attention!

1. saskbride on this board got married in December at 4pm, in her pictures she wore barefoot sandals, so I would assume you are ok!   I got married at 3pm and it was super hot, but since I had sandals on I can't really comment.

2. Just curious why you would want to use your own system when they provide it as a part of your package?  Are you worried they will play the wrong thing?  We had NO issues, even at the wedding office before the wedding they went thru them all and if they were uncertain (ie different versions, different people sing it, etc.) they would find it on utube to ensure they played the right one.  I would just use theirs as it played thru larger speakers.

3. I used their DJ and he was AWESOME!!!  During dinner they played lovey music LOL but the WC came up and asked what type of music we wanted for the dancing. Since I had been to the disco I knew I loved that type of music.  I told her to have them play the music from the disco with a mix of country for those people and he did fantastic.  I swear to god everyone was dancing for almost the entire 6 hours.  They also take requests with no issues.  I had thought about bringing my own music, but I didn't need to.  I thought they were fantastic.   Maybe if you aren't comfortable have your ipod as backup OR make a list of songs you definitely want to hear thru the night.    They feed off of the crowd too and play things they see people responding too. We had a blast.

4. I don't think blue is their standard, it's probably just what shows in their pics. She has a whole spreadsheet of the colors they offer. I wanted fuchsia, but I asked her to show me the color to ensure my idea of fuchsia was theirs. She opened it up and there was ample color choices.    I wanted the while fabric but from all the pictures of the GS I have viewed they also have a nice selection of colors for the 'gazebo' too.  But the fabric for gazebo is not the same for the sashes so the colors won't match 100% from what I have seen.

5. I rented them (well she ended up giving me them for free).  They are large and beautiful.  When I was walking up to the palapa I was like 'wow I am so glad we did those'  unfortunately I don't remember seeing them in any of my pics, but I have a standard photo of them in the palapa if you go to the links below and sift thru the first couple pages of my planning thread. (I will check my pics though for you).

Like I said, I just got married there last week.  I have a link below to my planning thread and also directly to the pictures of my wedding if you want to check them out.    Everything was breathtaking - location, flowers, palapa, etc. And everyone involved was fantastic - WC, spa, servers, DJ, etc.  The pictures do it no justice.

oh and ps - the isle runner was a shock to me, I didn't ask or pay for it, so that was a bonus!!!  I bought petals to sprinkle the isle with and they were already on it, so my daughter only did a few tosses. Not sure if she did that for me because I bought some to achieve that look and she was helping out or if that is standard??  They do blow away so I know they put some down more than once as per guests.

Good luck.

Thanks Calgarybride2015, that's all great information! I wanted to bring my own music for my walk down the aisle because I want to take out a verse to make the song shorter. But I suppose if they have speakers I might be able to plug it in to their sound system.

For the chair sashes, did you get to look at the colors before going to Mexico? I'm just worried they won't have what I want when I get down there.

Also one more thing. Are there 8 people to a table? I tried counting in the picture you just posted.

I'm sure you could just give them your song and they will play it thru their system.

No I just assumed they'd have them. Maybe email and ask for a color list / picture of all their colors for the sashes and fabrics.

They can do 8 or 10 and just have the appropriate sized table depending on what you choose. I think she said they can do 6 but prefer not. Also you can do long tables. I had tables of 9 and 10. The head table was for 8.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
